Subject: Re: Plastic knuckles
Hi I'm 6 weeks post op of one knuckle replacement to the index finger on the right hand. The op itself was fine, I had a numb block and light sedation which was much better than a general, home same day. I was heavily bandaged and in a sling for 5 days then went into a resting splint. After stitches came out (12days) I had to wear an outrigger splint which looks scary but is actually ok. This allowed you to move the fingers while supported to build strength. At night I go back to the resting splint. You cannot use your hand at all for anything which is very frustrating. I've been signed off initially for 8 weeks although h has been extended to 12 weeks. I go to physio once a week. Pain wise it was fine, couple of codeine every now and then. Any questions give me a shout hope it helps
