Subject: Coming off MTX

Hi i'm 25 and have RA. I am on 17.5mg MTX, about 3 months ago i had a bad flare up and was given steriod injections and then i went on my hol's to a hot country and to this day i have had no aches or pains at all. Could this still be the effects from the steriod injections??

Also me and my partner are thinking of adding another addition to our family, although i have 2 sons i am very nervous about this as i didn't have RA back then. I know you have to come off MTX for at least 6 months before trying but was wondering wether you are given other meds instead of MTX whilst preg???

Any advice would be great
Thanks
Amy

Hi Amy, I had to come off MTX for about 4(ish) months before we could start trying for a baby. I managed my RA with steroids, anti-inflamms and painkillers. Once I was (finally - it took a very long time) pregnant they all had to stop apart from the steroids although I went into remission quite quickly and so felt great until about 6 weeks after the birth when I went into a big flare - and so back on all the medications.
Good luck!
