Anyone tried anything new re: drops to ease dry eye?
Have suffered with it for years. Tried prescription non preservative drops but nothing seems to help. Suffer from sore and prickly eyes which also seem smeary, making it hard to focus. Thankyou

hi Chuckiegg ,

had dry eyes for years with RA , also suffered from scleritis & now raised eye pressure which will cause glaucoma & was picked up on regular eye test

as for dry eyes , I get Hypromellose from Day Lewis chemist , made by Vizulize on prescription & also use from Boots chemist "dry eyes eye drops" preservative free & use mixture of both

I have the same symptoms, mine itch badly too. I had some kind of infection in them last week and used some drops that my daughter had from her diabetic specialist that he said are the best for infections and also preventing them, i used them for a couple of days and my eyes feel a lot better. They are called MAXITROL, i don't know if they can be used for dry eyes alone or if they are mainly to prevent and treat infection but my eyes do feel a lot better after using them for a couple of days. x

Hi yes I use visco tear gel at night, that's longer lasting, and haylo forte during the day. Haylo forte has no preservatives in so is better for your eyes

Ive got dry eyes and I put drops in during the day, but my optician told me to wet a flannel under the hot tap and place it over my eyes for ten minutes, obviously don't get the flannel too hot. He said that this helps to stimulate the tear glands in the eyes. I do it in a morning and I do find it very relaxing. The only trouble is that the flannel goes cold too quickly. You can buy a sort of eye mask that you warm up in the microwave oven, I think they are around £20, don't know if they will hold the warmth longer. xx
