Subject: Re: hello newbie here
Hi Kim - I have Inflammatory Arthritis (not sure which type) and been taking Hydroxychloroquine for over 18 months now. It did take 6 months to work for me so don't give up on it too soon if you find it's not working quickly...I nearly did. I have had 12 really good months on it with just the odd niggle here and there. I am taking 300mgs daily (my max dose because I'm lightweight), unfortunately I cannot reduce it to 200mgs because I start to flare at that. 400mgs is generally the maximum dosage so if it's not working for you at 200mgs there is room for increase. Please do ask your GP about getting your eyes checked at least annually whilst taking Hydroxy. Don't worry though, it is only a precaution...my Ophthalmologist says It's very rare to develop an eye problem from it. I also have dry eyes and use Hypromellose drops for daytime and Lacrilube gel for night-time. The gel makes my eyes a bit blurry but it lasts all night unlike the drops. All the best and hope Hydroxy works for you soon Elaine
