Hi Lorraine, sorry to hear your sleep is being affected by your OA. You could ask your GP to give you different pain killers. Have you tried anything else? I find heat patches are useful as is a hot water bottle. It is so different for every one. I don't find manipulation at all helpful in fact for me it was painful but once again it is different for every one. I hope you find something helpful soon as it is so tiring not getting a good nights sleep. Unfortunately it seems this is a normal pattern for any one suffering with Arthritis. The trouble is if we stay in one position for a while we become stiff and then the pain follows. Good luck with it all and hopefully some one else may have a few ideas for you.

Hi Lorraine, I think you should pay your doctor a visit and like lois has said your doctor can give you different pain killers. Personally, I wouldn't recommend a chiropractor, I went to one before, and it actually made me worse, I thought they had broken my shoulder with their manipulation, and if you have any inflammation going on this would make it worse. Some gentle massage may help.

My father uses a tens machine to help with the pain. He says it only works when he actually has the machine on but it does give him some pain relief. I use one sometimes too and find it helps to some degree whilst it's on.

Are you living in the States, Lorraine? The Tylenol makes me think you are. I don't know what the options are over there.
