Subject: waiting 6 months for first rheumatologist appt
I am just wondering if I have arthritis. My GP said RA Levels extremely high several months ago, have six month to go before rheumatologist can see me. Would like to know if anyone symptoms are like mine, this is just one episode of many, and they all have different levels and symptoms. I woke up 2am could not move left leg. thought i had broke it during my sleep, hip & inner thigh muscle / 6 hours of intense (level 9) pain. got into my doctor, xrays show normal wear and tear for my age, but high RA Levels. Here's the kicker, by that evening I was able to walk and in a couple days, no pain at all? does this sound like arthritis?

Hi Jay, just wanted to say that 6 months wait to see a Consultant is far too long. If you definitely have RA then your treatment needs to begin. The longer it is left the more damage is being done to your joints. Unfortunately Arthritis is not a GP'S speciality. If I was you I would go to see your GP and say that you are not happy waiting that long to see a Rheumatologist. Good luck with it all.

Hi Jay, Lois is right, ask your GP to get onto the hospital and ask them to bring the appointment forward as that is far too long to wait. I know before I was diagnosed with RA I would sometimes feel my ankle or shoulder was broken and it could last days and then disappear but you do need a rheumatologist to find out what is going on as there are many other types of arthritis that could be causing it. Good luck
