Subject: Rh

Hi I was diagnosed with rh 4 years ago and struggled with pain most of the time I now have infusions once a month which I'm starting to see some improvement till I have to miss 1 due to illness etc I'm self employed but just applied for a new job and worried about having to take half a day off once a month for them does anyone else do this and how does your employer react to it regards xx

Hi Paula, I understand that under the Disability Discrimination Act you are allowed to take time off for treatment - your employer has to make reasonable adjustments for you. If you have a human resources department or Occupational Therapy you can discuss it with them. Any long term chronic illness is counted as a disability. If you google it, you should find more info.

Hi thanks for the info I don't get much info from my rh nurses and finding things quiet hard at times as pain not under control

Here's a link. I can't find info on right to take time for treatments but I'm sure it's there in the fine detail. The NHS don't really know much about employment and rights. You'd be better off going to someone like the CAB or another rights organisations, like this one, for example.
