Could you ask if you could have a steroid shot to cover you for that period, dolly? I can't take anti inflammatories so have to do that.

There are other pain killers that they can give you. dolly, so I wouldn't worry too much and as sleekfox has said you can ask for a steroid and it will probably be more effective. It's not good to take too many anti-inflammatories and if you feel you need them all the time then it's time they looked at your RA medication and offered you something else. Have you ever tried plaquenil or any of the biologic drugs?

Hi
Like you I was concerned about stopping Naproxen following hip replacement last year. I had steroid injection instead and the outcome was good if not better. Good luck with the replacement. I was pleased I had it done but keep to your 3 months restrictions and do your excercises to BOTH legs. It'll pay off believe me.

Hi Dolly, anything you require for home should be dealt with at the hospital before your discharge.
If you are not holidaying alone I am sure you will be able to enjoy your break.
My Mum was in her eighties and bounced back quickly after her hip replacement. She did need a raised toilet seat but she coped really well with everything else. She managed the stairs when she came home which was my biggest concern. It will of course depend very much on your recovery.
I wish you luck with it all and hope you make that holiday it will do you the world of good after surgery.
Take care x
