Subject: Arthritis in my spine

I was diagnosed with arthritis in my spine when I was 17 years old, after I had my child I would get a really bad pain which would last no longer than a few minutes and come every month for so, as the years have gone on the pain has become more severe and could last the whole night keeping me up at night, but now since Christmas I've had it every week with it lasting days on end, along with it bad chest pains and vomiting. I have been stuck in bed for three days now and cant even get up to make myself a meal. My doctor gave me NSAIDs but they didn't work at all, currently waiting for blood tests to come back but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or advice on how to control this pain, I'm only 22 and i really can't imagine having this pain for the rest of my life. This just seems to have gotten really bad really quickly

Hi M

Your story sounds identical to my own.

The spine / neck and chest pains (especially between my shoulder blades and rib cage ) are horrid memories - and I really feel for you!

I am not sure what blood tests you are having - but likely to be HLA B27 test for Ankylosing Spondylitis- known to effect younger people in this way.

I have found massive relief through diet changes and this is grounded in science with most forms of arthritis being a cross reaction to either gut bacteria proteins or food protein (modified by a process called cittrulination).

There is much support on this on the KICKAS.ORG website - founded by research done by Professor Brian Ebringer at King College Hospital.

I would advise trying a temporary fast (or elimination diet) to see if the inflammation eases - if it does ease off then you can dig deeper and seem appropriate help - as doctors will only help us by pain control (making the gut even weaker) and ultimately switching off the immune system
