Subject: How do I get my GP to refer me to a specialist rheumatologist?
I don't know if I DO have rheumatoid arthritis but I have all the symptoms. I won't bore you as you all know what they are. I don't have anything showing up on my blood tests, however, so my GP says its just a virus. But its been going on for around 8 - 9 months and I feel awful. Any suggestions please.

Hi Gill, Remind your GP that sero-RA doesn't always show up in the blood and tell him how you feel and insist that he refers you. A virus shouldn't last for 8-9 months. It can be quite a wait to see a rheumatologist so make that appointment with the doctor and be firm. If you suffer from stiffness in the mornings or after sitting and sometimes pain in the toe joints and knuckles this can suggest that it could be RA. Good luck.

hi Gill , there are 200 types of arthritis , like do you have the skin condition psoriasis and there are arthritis that is caused by virus but you need to be refered because the consultant will be able to put it all together & tell you if its related to arthritis or not ,
