Subject: Bioptron Light Therapy
Hi
I'm writing from NZ. Has anyone in UK ever heard of Light Therapy to help with RA? I have had RA for last 3 years and still have probs with joints despite methotx for 3 months. Was at a Womans Expo (show) and someone (claimed she had RA) was selling these machines (Bioptron) that are supposed to help with pain. They are made in Switzerland so I figured they may be more commonly used in Europe than S. Hemisphere. She said that she has now come off all her meds! Is this quackery or can anyone elso vouch for this therapy? There are some scientific papers relating the therapy to wound healing. But not sure of the benefits for RA. Help!

Hi Jenny Jill from UK here.... I have family by the way in your beautiful Country... Sorry to hear about your problems, I know u say u r on Methotx, Im assuming that is Methtrexate? If so, that Drug takes at least 3 months to get into your system, I am on methtrexate, along with Enbrel injections(been on Mtx 2 years, and enbrel over a year)...they work well together.... I still also have problems with my joints and severe fatigue, but with out the Meds I would be far far worse off. We often on this site get people saying they have R.A. and selling Natural products, I think If our Specialists new of any FAB New Idea, including Light Therapy, then surely they wld be the first to tell us.... I Nag my specialists LOL all the time for the BEST of all Meds...he says Im on them!! Im assuming Light Therapy causes Heat into the Joints?? well you Live in a Hot country, Would u really need one....Personally I wouldnt trust that shes has/had R.A. and now its gone? shes a miracle surely LOLOl...any way I k now I havnt helped u in the way u wanted to be helped, but please be careful of people(other than your Specialist) in claiming such amazing things... alarm bells are ringing for me.... Also have your specialists spoke to u about going on Enbrel? remicade, humira? I know depends how bad yu are b4 they give those toxic drugs out...Just a thought, remember there is always that drug to take as well as With methtrexate Take care
