Hi Colin, how are you doing? I've sort of lost track of where you are with things. A question to ask you, and others, do you ever use heat on a swollen joint? I can't remember what the guidelines are. I've just an ice pack on my shoulder but it's not really helped. Thanks anyone!

On the type of inflammation we have related to R.A I think warm heat helps sleekfox.

Thanks, suz. I'm slightly paranoid about infection and heat's not good for that, but there's no sign of it at the moment.

hi guys , I dont use heat , just cold & tens m/c as for how I am doing , the rituximab I think is working a bit , droped steriods down from 45mg/day to 25mg/day but sturggling to get it any lower & having problems because of the steriods , ie: eye pressure/ glaucoma , problems with fluid retention in legs & leg ulcers & now they are testing me for Type 2 diabetes , CRP still in high 20s but was 78 earlier this year before biologic & on 45mg steriods got to see the consultant on friday , just wish could have another infusion now & not have to wait 6 months & maybe have tocilizumab as well but that would never happen , the DMARD drugs are not working with my white cell count to high , caused by the steriods sleek fox , how are you doing , have they sorted any treatment for you

That all sounds very trying, Colin. I've never had such high doses of steroids but have certainly had problems on the lower dose. I'm waiting to see someone about mouth ulcers before I can start the azathioprine, which I don't hold out much hope for. Just need a steroid injection but found out this morning it hasn't been ordered after all. Grrr! Now waiting for rheumy to call.

Thanks Colin. I think the mouth ulcers were due to large amounts of steroids earlier in the year when I was admitted to hospital with asthma. They seem to have improved but they won't let me take the drug until I've seen the dental people, Gah! I'm getting an injection into my dodgy shoulder tomorrow, so that should cheer me up!
