Hello Katie. Do you mean RA factors, as in sero negative or positive , or just RA levels (factors) in general ?

hi Katie , about 80% of people with RA are sero positive , to be positive your levels of rheumatoid factor are above 20 IU/mL but alot of people that are sero negitive do develop positive FR over time most the people that develop severe RA tend to have very high RF , mine was 450 when they tested it 19 years ago , they have never checked it again having positive RF dont mean you have RA , check on wiki

Katie , think you need a steriod injection into both knees , I had this when I first developed RA , they done my ankles at the same time , after 24 hours total bedrest my knees felt good but my ankles were both hot are you under a rheumatoligist , 20.9 is pretty boarderline but with the problems you are having they need to confirm what is going on

Hi Katie I hope all goes well for you. Colin, do different hospitals have different levels of RA factors ? On my notes it says I am sero negative as under a baseline of 30 ?

hi , cant realy help you with your question , just not qualified , I would ask your GP/Consultant , there are other test they can do like Anticitrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs) are autoantibodies (antibodies directed against an individualās own proteins) that are directed against peptides and proteins that are citrullinated. They are present in the majority of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. the main difference being sero negative is normaly RA is easier to control & they dont normaly let you have the newer biologics rituximab/tocilizumab & abatacept, but this may change soon
