hi guys

sorry not being around to much , think doing ok ish on new biologic , CRP gone from 78 to 26 & 12 last week & being able to reduce steriods down from 45mg/day to 35 & hope to slowly reduce them down , on toc could never get below 25mg so hope to get down to a maintainance dose

think they are worried I will develop diabetes 2 or have already , is bit of a worry but they are doing fasting bloods at end of month

hope everyone had good easter & you are all feeling good ( sort of anyway )

Hi Colin, glad to hear they are getting your steroids down. There is a worry about type 2 diabetes but I have read that you can reverse it with diet. I don't know if that applies to steroid induced diabetes but it might be worth doing a bit of research. Great that your CRP is down.

All the best.

Hello Colin, how are things going? Have you managed to get further down with the steroids? I've got really problems with mine but can't seem to reduce them at the moment. Waiting to start another Dmard.

hi , I reduced them down from 45mg to 30mg a day , got to see the consultant at end of May & hoping to be down to 20 or 15 by then

just think the rituximab is working for me , they said it would take 3 to 6 months but I am very hopeful at last something is working , the trouble with steriods is that it boast the white cell count so all the DMARD's are not working

That's great news. It's about time you had a bit of success with the drugs. I'm hoping to start azathioprine shortly but I don't hold out much hope.

hope it helps you , its a drug I dont know much about , but if it works all well & good

steriods long term are not the answer but sometimes we have to take them & pretty much know I will never be off them but hope to get down to 5 - 10mg a day

realy hope this helps you , as you been through the wars as well

Thanks, Colin. I'm on low dose steroids. Like you, I can't get off them. I am getting side effects but I try and keep as fit as possible and eat a good diet.

Colin, sorry to jump in I had bloods done twice and the results show Inflammatory Osteoarthritis.

I am relieved but the down side is no real meds for it. I am not at all happy with taking so many pain killers but they say it could subside pain wise. I am not sure on that one I have had pain for 30 odd years now. It is only the last 5 years that have been so bad.
Just thought I would catch you and let you know.

I am 100% sure your docs dont know what they are talking about , 30 years ago we did not know about PSA & if you did not have RA then it must be OA , untreated the joints will end up the same

as for Inflammatory Osteoarthritis they have started treating it with a DRAMD ie: methotrexate & showing good signs of working , the same as it does with RA & PSA , I would ask to be refered as your GP cant give you a DMARD drug ,

as for painkillers , I dont take any , sometimes co-codamol which find good for headaches & leg ulcers but dont do anything for my joints

30mg Codeine does help but dont want to be addicted to the drug , same as with Morphine , patches helps but has side effects which make my RA worse

tramadol makes me ill , tend to use TENS M/C which helps my feet & legs , I would push to get refered & hope you get some sence from them

Hi Colin, thanks for the information I will have another go with the GP. Unfortunately I have a pacemaker so the Tens machine I have is just sitting in the drawer.
Once again thanks Take care and have a lovely evening with the Boss. x
