Subject: Medication advice
Hello everyone, I hope you're all keeping well. I'm on methotrexate (6tablets weekly) been on them since November and not really seeing any benefits as of yet, more just the horrible sickness feeling that lasts for days. I'm trying to find out about other medicines I could ask to be put on as the sickness is interfering with work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Have you spoken to your rheumy nurse and are you taking folic acid? That helps with the sickness. I had 5 days of folic acid. You could also ask them to reduce the dosage and build up more slowly. the other thing is a lot of people the it at night so you sleep through the sickness stage and it's gone by the morning.

Hi Bekki, I agree with s/f in that you should speak to your rheumy nurse and if you are not feeling a lot of benefit from it soon then they may want to add something else. Plaquenil is meant to be one of the safer drugs that can be taken alongside it or sulphasalazine but best speak to them about it. x

They can inject methotrexate if the tablets cause sickness that is too bad to cope with. It costs more thou so they don't often offer it. You could ask them. Definitely worth discussing your options with your rheumy nurse.
