Subject: Re: DHEA
Hi Suzy DHEA is a hormone that is a precursor to the creation of other hormones in the body. I read that the body usually makes its own DHEA from cholesterol. I also found a legitimate medical study that suggests that it lowers cholesterol - and increased Estrogen levels. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16821209 On the downside and of concern - there are some scare stories in relation to the possible effect on hormone levels and cancer. There a plethora of studies where they say therapies work or are useful to different diseases and they are left on the shelf, unfunded as they cannot be patented or made profitable by drugs companies. I believe there are alternative treatments that are not being prescribed due to ignorance, dogma and need for profits. Diet changes are one of those.
