Subject: Alkaline vs Acidic

I have looked all over this forum and I see a lot about antibiotics, diet and pain pills. Taking antibiotics lowers your resistance to some diseases and pain pills are very addictive and after long term use actually start causing pain (weird huh) plus if you take enough to cover up the pain you can than do damage doing things you should not because it does not hurt (right than). A little pain can be your friend keeping you from doing damage to your self.
I am not a medical person but I have learned that some arthritis is a degenerative disease caused by diet and life style chooses. Than I ran across this by 2 time Nobel Prize recipient Dr. Otto Warburg "All degenerative disease lives in acidic oxygen deprived tissue" and he went on to say if you change the environment to alkaline with it's high oxygen content the disease goes away.
Now about 12 years ago (I'm now 63) I started getting a constant pain in my left shoulder and over time it slowly spread on down my left arm. The pain was a 24 hour a day thing, I started losing range of movement in that arm so that I could not wash under my right arm pit with my left hand. But I thanked God that I still had a left arm and if I was careful I could still do some things with it. It got so bad I had to sleep on my back with my arm next to me and any movement would wake me up.
Than my wife, who has had RA since she was a little girl caused by steroids they gave her in massive amounts for another problem back than. Well she started getting this ionized Alkaline water from a lady in town and shortly started noticing improvements. So she talked me into it and within 3 weeks I was 99% pain free. That was almost 2 years ago and we still have the same results.
The bad news, you have to give up high acid drinks, like all sodas, sport drinks, beer (sorry about that) and coffee. Now coffee is not as bad as the first 3. I quit coffee for over a year than I started having a cup or two a day and I noticed I could feel the old pain trying to come back.
If you know of someone that has a water ionizer machine get some and try it for awhile, but be sure it is from a quality company. We at first got a cheap machine and my wife got sick till we got the machine we have now.
More about it on my blog https://alkalinewaterkansas.wordpress.com/
If this helps just one person it was worth all the typing.

Hi Chris

I take magnesium every day - and twice a day if I get any flare.

My view is that an alkali gut is important - and has a beneficial effect for autoimmunity as it reduces the proliferation of antigenic gram negative gut bacteria.

I think gut balance is important but gut integrity is top of my list. For example I have not taken a single pain killer or NSAID - for nearly two years now.

This chap whos website I drop into from time to time explains, as an acidic gut can also have some benefits, And the science of food combining comes in to play also - as you need acid to digest some foods.

Sean good job on the pain killers. Out of habit I take one aspirin in the morning just cause.
My concern is blood and tissue alkalinity, The gut needs all that acid to digest properly, it's about how quickly we get the acid waste out of our cells.
Our modern world drinking water is now processed water, fast filtered to remove the large nasty stuff in the water and than chemicals are added to kill off what is left than more is added to slow down rust in the pipes ( their pipes not yours) and it all sticks together making a large water molecule. Now this large molecule has a hard time getting into the cell wall, that is why you feel bloated when you drink too much because it's not going anywhere. What a good water ionizer does is as the water passes by the electrode plates it literally pulls it apart using a bunch of power and in the process cleans all that junk off the molecules making what is called 'micro-clustered' water with 4 times better hydration.
I think if a person is going to have a beer or a cup of coffee they need to drink it while they eat because that is when the stomach needs the acid anyway. But the rest of the time drink Alkaline Antioxidant water to flush out the excess acid and keep the body in balance.
It is a balancing act and trying to balance it by diet alone is just too much for most people.

Hi Guys, I remember reading somewhere that alkaline in the blood can be a sign of future disease. Would an alkaline diet cause this or would this not affect the blood and urine. I had a urine test during pregnancy and there was alkaline in it and the GP said he had never seen that before and asked I was vegetarian. Years later I developed RA.

I don't know what alkaline in the blood means.
Blood has a PH level on a scale of 0 to 14 with 7 as neutral or basic on the PH chart. Your blood should be, if I remember the numbers right, between 7.35 to 7.45 PH for good health. That does not seem like a big difference but 7.45 Ph has 50% more oxygen than 7.35 Ph
That is why I don't understand about having alkaline in the blood, of course you do, but what was the measurement?
I read that for all the years it takes for a doctor to become a doctor, that on average they only get 4 days of education on diet...

Hi Chris, Thanks for replying. I don't know if it was in the blood as it was during a urine test that I was told there was alkaline in it and when he asked if I was veggie I then wondered if it was because of my diet or if there was an indication that I was going to have a future disease. I remember at the time asking people if this was normal after the doctors reaction but nobody seemed to know.
