Morning Ladies, well so it goes on I had a phone call Thursday/Friday morning to say my Husband was going to hospital had accident at work. It turn out he leaned back on the chair and the back gave way and he finished up on his back on the floor. He had neck brace his arms strapped to his side as they thought they saw a break in his neck CT scan revealed it was Arthritis. Thank God!!
Well he was allowed home the next day he is very sore as you can imagine. His muscles in his back are torn and his back operation site is inflamed and he is now off work resting.
Hopefully he should be good for Christmas.
Keep chucking it my way at least someone else is getting peace and quiet LOL.

Take care all of you and make sure you keep warm.

Hi Ladies, thanks for your support. We had arranged a very quiet Christmas with just my Daughter this year so it is just as well. I will be taking plenty of sofa surfing watching lots of tv with a glass of wine.

I have just come back from the Carol service with Mum I said I would take her. It was really just lovely all the village taking part and a cute little six year old girl started it all with a solo of Silent Night.
The Church is small but was full so it was nice to meet some of the villager's I haven't met yet.

Bsk bless you hope that asthma clears soon it is just horrible. I have a cough and am hoping it stays at that. It is a shame you are missing out sulk all you like I would LOL.

You all rest up and I will too honest.

Rhona when will your daughter be here??

Afternoon all. I've 3 days left at work this week, got to work the three days to pay back holiday I've taken! Then only next Saturday and I'm finished :) I shall miss the discount lol

Dreadful news, bsk. My daughter was having lunch with a friend in the next street when it happened. When I heard about it I called to make sure she was alright but some poor families with have to face it. Just awful.

Christmas was just what I wanted peaceful with lots of feet up on the footstool. I saw the youngest grandkids on Boxing afternoon they were full of Father Christmas I think he was their best friend hahaha

Oh my goodness, I feel il. I've got a respiratory infection and spent all last night vomiting. I had a high temperature this morning. I'm off to the doctors in a minute as I think I need steroids for my lungs and I want them to check me over. Grim start to the new year.

Oh dear, Marlene, poor little mite. That must have been horrible for his parents. The positive thing is kids bones heal quickly and though it will be difficult for them to manage, your grandson will hopefully find a way to get around. It must be very frustrating not being able to go and see them but you will in a couple of weeks, I think.

I have been sleeping all day. I went to the doctor who didn't really have anything to add. I'd already started the antibiotics so she told me to start the steroid course. That has started to help my lungs already. I've still got a temperature though. I felt so ill this morning. She thinks I've got flu and exacerbation of my asthma. It seems I've had that plus, maybe food poisoning. Nice combination!

Well, I spent the afternoon in A&E. I had 3 (THREE) nebulizers. I'm very shaky. Fingers crossed it does the trick. In bed now with the radio on a a cup of tea.

I was wide awake at 6am this morning well inbetween being woken up with other halfs snoring most of the night! So went through to spare bedroom, didn't get up until midday so although most of day gone I'm smiling that I got an extra 4 hrs sound sleep.

So sorry to hear that Cookie, what a shame, no wonder you're fed up. It might be a good thing if they do keep you in and look after you for a few days as you must be worn out with all this. It might be necessary to give you the antibiotic intravenously. Maybe after a good nights sleep things will be a bit better but if you find you are getting any worse then please call an ambulance, don't take chances with your health.

Hi Tough Cookie, so sorry to hear you are having a rough time. Sometimes these chest infections are a real bugger to get rid of. I took antibiotics just before Christmas and I have started them again today for my chest. I have a bad cough and a sore throat so my asthma is not great today. My neighbours daughter-in-law has pneumonia started with a cold poor girl.
cookie if they do decide to take you in they will have you as good as new in no time fingers crossed that wont need to happen.
Self absorbed you are entitled to be any way that is what we are all here for one and other.

Make sure that if you feel bad in the night take Lucy's advice and mine and call an ambulance.

not started new job yet, induction is monday then should start tuesday, fingers crossed she has something for me immediately as had my final wage from ex employer - well have seen online wage slip and after picking myself up off the floor i've called to request a meeting with a manager to talk me through it in the greatest of detail as £5.17 for a full months work is just not cricket i dont' think!!!! yes it is correct and not a typo - £5.17 they are paying me. seemingly they pay in advance so this is everything on and then everything off but i dont' agree. i didnt' expect much but sure as hell expected more than that!!!!!

Wages, hmm. In December wage (paid 10th) we were paid from 28th nov to 3rd January! S even though I worked to end of month I still didn't do enough to merit wages, . I told the manager I wish I'd just given the needed one weeks notice and let them chase me for what owed. You'd be taken to court she said. She really isn't a Very nice person at all unfortunately but I empathise with her being such a sour puss, unhelpful, awkward old bat! I said all that whilst smiling as I will not allow the likes of her to get me down. Thankfully my wonderful husband is helping me out financially until I start earning a decent wage again.
And as if the scenario wasn't bad enough I met my friend there for cup of tea today whilst waiting for car being mot'd and one of the other managers asked if I would ever consider going back? Hahahahahahahaha now she is a lovely person and nice to all staff even if she doesn't like them I assume as I have never seen or heard her say a bad word about anyone.
So that was my day. Now I have blowing gales outside and just hope the fences stay put.
Funeral service is set for 20th for friends son. A long time to wait but very busy period they have been told!
And now all the atrocity happening in France , all so very sad.
If only I was Lara croft I could try save the world eh .
Anyway enough blethering it's bed time and lots to do ready for Monday

As long as you are on the mend Cookie that's all that matters. Are you on a high dose of steroids? I found it hard to sleep when I was on them. As long as you're not attacking anyone, lol.

Well here I am with a blood pressure cuff that goes off every half hour. Sleep what's that? It works well it goes so tight I can't see me sleeping tonight. I thought I was having a 24 hour ECG show's you how wrong I was. Oh well it is only for a day.

I'm covered in bruises, Lois. With me it's the steroids and the pressure socks they made me wear plus injections. I look rather beaten up. The blood pressure cuff sounds really annoying but I hope it gives them the info they need.

I slept like a log last night. It was so nice to be in my own bed at last. I'm breathless and wheezy this morning but have managed to potter around doing a few things. Not too much as I'm still rather tired but it's great to be back in control of my life. My Glasgow sister is visiting for an hour at lunchtime today, she's down for a meeting, so I'm looking forward to that. What's the whether like up there, Lucy?

Good about the blood pressure, Lois. Don't think about the age thing. We are all getting older!

Lucy, get that basal cell seen on your leg. I know all these hospital appointments are boring. God knows I seem to spend my time at them but its worth doing. Are you taking a stomach protector and gaviscon? If not, maybe a trip to the gp. Indigestion is horrible. I get it on the steroids.

I've had a couple of visitors today and am very tired. My peak flow is dropping until I use my inhaler. Seeing my gp tomorrow.

That was scandalous Cookie, perhaps if you had been in quicker you would have been better by now. Sitting in A&E when you are ill would make you worse. I know anytime I have went there with anyone it is a horrible experience, drunks and all sorts, especially on a Friday night.

That really is shocking, Cookie. I heard on the news the other night about the time people have to wait at A&E but to send you hope when you were so ill is unacceptable.

A couple of years ago on xmas eve my daughter was taken to A&E by ambulance when she went blind due to the blood leaking at back of her eyes, it was a horrendous experience, she lay for hours and hours before being admitted, it was terrifying for her. I still shiver when I think of it. It could have been a detached retina that needed immediate treatment, luckily is wasn't but they really need to change things and when they see that people are so ill they shouldn't be left lying for hours or worse and sent home.

It's blowing a gale here today. I was very late getting up today, stomach still painful so just taking it easy today.

Hi Cookie what a way to treat you. That paramedic must of been horrified to hear that they were to busy to get you. How must of he/she have felt. I think the way things are going it can only get worse. I know first hand how badly they treat people my hubby wasn't treated very well.
No wonder the NHS staff feel so badly treated by Mr Cameron after all they are the ones that get left with the back lash.
You are right to complain about your treatment and so would I. My hubby was so glad they did the op for him he let it go and I think that is what they rely on.
To be honest I had never heard of Ambulatory Care before I read your post. How does this work if you get sent home to care for your self during the night? Especially if you live alone! I just think the NHS is being run into the ground deliberately.

I did post last night but something happened that it wouldn't go on for some reason, server issues it said.
S here I am. I'm working as bank admin in a hospital now. Much better than M n S but getting up so early again will take some getting use to! Only did three days this week and am shattered lol.
Emm glad to see you here again and so sorry to hear you're still having problems. I do hope that you recover enough to get to Oz . How was your Christmas etc did you have a nice time, or as best you could?
Lucy (Rhona) keep the white stuff up there please as I hate the thought if having to drive in it!

Lois I have a neighbour coming to do a smoke test on my fire today so finally getting closer to it being in use I hope. House is so cold and the heating bills in winter are so high I could cry.

Oh you ladies are making me jealous. I want a real fire - nothing like a roaring fire to sit at on a winters night, and it is a winters night here alright! I can hear the odd car passing by my window and the ice crunching with the wheels.

Sounds like you had a good days shopping, Lois. I like shabby chic too, although I don't have anything shabby chic, just me lol. I went into TK Max today, I didn't buy anything but sometimes there is good finds in there.

Hope you're feeling better now S/Fox and taking it easy.

The steroids are like little magic pills, just a pity we couldn't take them all the time without any adverse affect.

You can have the snow that's lying about here, S/F, the pavements around here are like skating rinks, I am too frightened to walk in it.

Hi ladies,
I am suffering badly at present, every joint in my body hurts.
I rang up and am seeing the rheumatologist tomorrow, after telling the specialist nurse how bad I am.
I feel a bit worried actually.
Can you remember my ankle being bad for a long time, well at present I can hardly bear to walk, its so painful and now I have shooting pains in my heel.
This relentless RA really has a hold of me at present.
Sorry to re appear just to moan but nothing is going right.
I feel I could ask for an ankle and shoulder injection, which I may well get, but my whole body is hurting.
Anyone any ideas what he may suggest.

I hope they can help you out with injections maybe. You poor girl. Do you think your knee injury has made your ankle take more punishment?
Emm I do hope you can get relatively pain free and get out to OZ and the sunshine I am sure it would help you even if all you could do was sit in the sun. I will keep everything crossed for you.

It has been so cold here brrrrr.
Off out for lunch today with brother + wife + niece + hubby + mum. I am looking forward to it.

I have a muscle in my shoulder that has been so painful it feels like it has been pulled but I have no idea why it should be. It was so bad the first day it hurt to breath in. It seems much better this morning but I am going to be careful as It is still lurking there.

The lunch was lovely we all had a Turkey roast. The country pub was packed (good sign) all the beef and lamb was finished. We had a lovely chat over lunch I even had 2 Southern Comforts and Lemonade really pushed the boat out. It was lovely seeing my niece haven't seen her in over a year. She is just lovely we had a few giggles. She is off to Thailand in a couple of weeks for a holiday. She is very well travelled spent a year in India voluntary teaching English and she loved it. (for the lesser children as she puts it). It was great to be with the family my other brother and his partner couldn't make it which was a shame.

My shoulder is settled better just gives me a pain when I sneeze or cough. Hot water bottle came in handy for the last few days.
It was sunny today and mild but is freezing tonight.
My three are back from Bulgaria they had fun on the slopes so all good.

Morning ladies, hi Sleekfox so pleased to hear you are on the mend. It is good that you are getting about again not much fun being stuck indoors. I know you have had friends in and out but the fresh air and being outdoors is just good for us.
Our hot water bottles are a saviour I am always telling people to buy one. I love mine when I have a real bad pain so comforting and they really warm those joints and muscles up.
I hope the hospital appointment went well and it is great you have some time away after that. I find appointments at hospitals and the Gps can be overwhelming sometimes. I was saying to my hubby last week I might as well move in the waiting room I am here so often lately (depressing springs to mind).
I hope that shoulder is better today. Mine has calmed right down but if I cough it gives me a quick painful reminder it is still there I am positive it is muscular. I have no idea why it is hurting. I can't recall stretching or anything.

Oh well I guess I need to get on take care everyone.

Well I just opened the back door to let the dog out and the whole garden is covered in freezing cold white stuff. I have been sofa surfing blinds closed log burner glowing away and I can't believe that snow can be so cunning sneaking up on me like that. It is still falling out of the sky how dare it. LOL

If you have snow be extra careful all.

Hope the roads are clear tomorrow night off to see The Jersey Boys at our local Theatre. Dinner first (Christmas present).

Sorry I have not been on much , I just have had no 'get up and go' had flu and lots of RA probs as well as the knee to cope with.
I just had my yearly flu jab this week as have not been free of bugs for months to have it.

But I am going to Australia on 16th feb. Hope I manage ok.
I cant get used to the new names as yet. I have to scroll back to see who's who! Lovely mild day here and sunny. So thats nice.

I think they have gone to Dubai. I thought they were just off for a week but maybe I have got it wrong. I hope she is having a fab time.

How are you doing and how is Dad?

Mum has been for a memory test at Drs and they are sending out someone for a further test at home. She is struggling and it is upsetting. They say they can help with drugs fingers crossed.

I am struggling today with pain but hey ho I have been stressed with it all lately so that's probably not helping. I am thinking of taking a short break maybe over here I am not up for Airports at the moment.

Sleekfox I have just looked at my Niece stroking a tiger in Thailand she put it on facebook. Oh wow just gorgeous her face is beaming what a photo. How lovely I can see she is loving her holiday. She just loves to travel.

Any way I better stop babbling on in case you think I am writing a book LOL.

We just had a lovely downpour of hail and it is now freezing so log burner on.
Poor Lucy what a shame bless her. That is the second Femur break this year hopefully that's it (1st my little grandson. What a shame Lucy said she had wanted to go to Dubai for a long time. This show's why a good insurance is so important.

This year hasn't started to well has it let's hope the spring is better.

You must have been really upset at falling. You can't be angry with yourself though, as it isn't your fault. How frustrating to have to be walking on a frame, though I expect it will help you gain more stability over a period of time. Have you had a bone density scan lately? You could ask for one, as it may be that which has caused the fracture. A real shame you didn't get any shopping done either. I'm sure you must be really fed up and sending you big hugs (((Lucy))). However, it is very nice to have you back. xx

Lois, I read that you had a trigger finger. I was diagnosed with a trigger finger years ago and it was nothing of the sort - it was RA. I'm not saying that is what you have but I would ask to be referred to a rheumatologist as some of the things you have could do with more investigation. xx

That is what I feel now I just need to be 100% sure. My injection for my finger has been brought forward to Friday 13th March hope this isn't some kind of omen LOL.

My dog is not allowed in the bedroom but she has laid in the corner and she is here to stay. I guess she is older and needs some love bless her.

Ouch! Phone occupational therapy (It's self referral here in my borough) and they will bring crutches and anything else you might need. They might get the physio sorted out for you as well. They were very good when I need things to help at home.

You could have a urinary tract infection, Lucy. In any case, that is something the doctor should know. Sorry to hear about your OT confusion. It's so much better to be able to do it yourself, at least you can follow it up, I suppose, but they shouldn't leave you without help.

I'm ok, just quite tired. I think it is RA tiredness as it's hard to summon up the energy to do very much. I'm waiting for my rheumy nurse to get back from compassionate leave and I'll have a chat with her.

I hope all goes well with your chest consultant. The alternative medicine ect sounds interesting. Lets hope something comes from it. I believe anything is worth a go. We have nothing to loose.

I decided to have a potter in the sunshine and we had the blustery winds. Like you I loved being back in the garden. I tidied all the hanging baskets and pots and they all look tidy again.

My dog has come out in sympathy and is limping on her back leg it might be her hip. She has to rest up and if there is no improvement by Wednesday she has to do a visit to the vet.
I was saying to the O/H I can't believe the dog is shuffling and limping I bet we would look a right sorry lot walking together LOL.

Hi Lucy, lovely to hear you got outside for a bit. It makes you feel better mentally when you can get out in the sunshine. It is very windy here as well but the sunshine makes up for it. Good you feel better you seem to be progressing well. That's what happens when you are a tough cookie. Keep it up!!!! (((hugs))))

Advice on phone from vet and I can go at a drop of a hat for treatment. Moving to the country makes such a difference to my vet bills. Home visit three injections and weeks worth of pills £60 back in London I would have been looking at least £300. I phoned and the vet was here inside an hour better service than my GP LOL.

Hi Ladies, I had the physiotherapist in to see me today, she was very helpful, she brought me crutches and showed me how to use them the right way and she also gave me some exercises to do. Things seem to be moving now as I have an appointment next week at the Orthopaedic dept and a bone scan the following week.

When is your appointment S/F?

Very cold here, we have had a few flurries of snow but it's meant to get milder later in the week.

If you can stick to it then you may find it helps, s/f. I have read that we should cut down on the omega 6 and increase the omega 3. Do you eat fish? I love salmon and I also use rapeseed oil. I have been eating loads of blueberries, perhaps I am short of something as I keep craving them (not pregnant) lol.

The sun is shining here today and there is a beautiful blue sky but very cold outside.

Hi Lois, I'm doing ok, still using the crutches but inside I am using a trolley that I got from O/T a few years ago, it is handy as I can hold onto it for support and also transport things from room to room, I couldn't even carry a glass of water using the crutches but this way I can go into the kitchen and get want I want and take it into the living room. My husband got home a bit earlier yesterday so I managed into his car (it's higher) and we went to the loch but the crutches are really sore on the hands, I have been looking at things on ebay to put round them, don't know if they help or not, I tied some material round them but it didn't help.

It's a grey sky here this morning but it's dry. I did another online shop with Tesco last night, it's great, no carrying bags, I think I will do this from now on.

So, old employers called and asked me to go back! Said no of course as too physical foe me. We're offering better days and hours this time but stills said no. Nice to be asked though.

Morning ladies, I think you are having much better weather than we are, Lois. Although, to be fair, it is dry and the sun was shining earlier on.

I like a lazy Sunday! I too have been having a look at the Sunday papers, well the Sunday Post, I don't know if you read that down south or not.

I wrapped some material round the crutches, lois, and it has made it a little more comfortable but still not ideal. I had a look online at the ones s/f mentioned, I can't see them giving me them somehow. I hope I can throw them away soon but still too wobbly without them.

How is the cold s/f? I hope it hasn't went into your chest.

Have you booked the holiday yet, Lara? Yes, it is nice to feel wanted and to be able to tell them - no thanks.

Hi Ladies, It's been a horrible damp day here today and my shoulders are so sore. I was at the hospital today seeing the orthopaedic doctor. He said by the look of the x-ray I will probably have a difference in leg length, seemingly this is quite common after hip operations. I asked if they would have did the same operation as I had (bipolar hemiarthroplasy) and he said they would probably have did a full hip replacement so now I am a bit worried as I read this type of operation is usually for old infirm people, I didn't class myself in that category yet although the doctor there did seem competent. I guess time will tell.

Hi Sleekfox, I think he felt the full hip operation would last longer and the operation I had can start to wear down the surrounding area or something along those lines.

I know what you mean by the tiredness, I don't think this weather helps, although you are on very little meds and it's only natural that it will be affecting you. I hope you get the jag, I feel like asking for one myself.

Hi Lucy, it never bloody rains but it pours. Bless you. I was smiling picturing you hanging that washing out. What are we women like? We just have to learn to cope LOL.
It has been cold here today the sun struggled but just didn't manage to break through today.

My fingers seems a lot better than it was. I will be filling out a survey about the results. It seems they are questioning how good the results are from steroid injections being done at the GP's practice. Sounds like another NHS cut looming. I hope not it is miles to the nearest hospital. So convenient being able to use my local practice for my injections. I have had 3 in the last 6 months. Oh well I hope there are a lot of satisfied customers.

Just heard on the news about the smog in the UK and people with chest problems being advised to stay indoors. Is it bad in London? It's meant to be dust coming in from the Sahara. Yesterday when I was out in the car it was a very grey day and there was a strange mist in the atmosphere, it made the place look a bit eerie. I wonder if that is what it was. I haven't any news on referral at all. My bloods have stayed the same so it seems once again they are not going to follow up. I am still stamping my feet. Long old slog.
My Mum is having her last test next month for Dementia. My other half is still home after his accident at work. Just been signed off for another two months whilst he waits for his appointment to go back and see his surgeon again. I feel so sorry for him he was really doing well after his surgery and now he is back to where he started. He is taking Tramadol Paracetamol Gabapentin. Oh well that's life and I really have my hands full but I am still happy bunny.

I am thinking of having Easter Dinner at mine just need to get my daughter to check she is home to lend a hand.
Well I will stop moaning now you all have your own problems to deal with. Thanks for listening while I groan on and on and on.

Hi Lucy, I know what you mean about not liking getting old LOL. I wanted to get old disgracefully but it is very much subdued at the moment.

Ahh I bet you are looking forward to seeing your daughter Easter isn't that far away.
I hung all my washing out to-day just need to iron it all in the morning. I love the fresh smell when I bring it in so much nicer than the tumble dryer.

I think Emm has gone for a couple of months. I do hope she enjoys herself and soaks up plenty of sunshine.

You will get rid of those sticks soon My mum took a while and still uses a stick (I know she is older) she said she just feels safer. So maybe that's just what it is with you also. Hi Ladies, It's like winter again here, snow is forecast overnight. My daughter will get a shock when she arrives on Tuesday, especially when it is 28 degrees where she is. I foolishly went for a walk at the loch today and was half way round when the rain came pouring down, I was drenched by the time I got back to the car. I'm moving a bit better but still not walking right at all.

Does it have to be apple based. What about a home made passion fruit/mango cheese cake. I make the cheesecake and blitz what ever fresh fruit to make a coulis.
It is really hard when making food for more than ourselves especially puds some like it gooey some sweet some tarte. Good luck with it all.

Hi Ladies, I had to pop into Tesco's and the shop was sooooo busy I will avoid food shopping on a Saturday. I needed fresh vegetables and salad for Monday otherwise I would not of gone. Forgot what Saturday shopping was like. Being retired has some perks like week day shopping. LOL.
A bonus was the clothes section was empty so I managed to pick up some T-shirts that were marked down so roll on summer.

Growing an orchard is not a little thing! I have a Braeburn and a Cox, also a Quince tree, which was the last thing my mum bought me before she died. It is lovely in autumn with beautiful fruits.

My desert was very good. I caramelised some oranges to go with it. Everyone really liked it and there was loads left over. Great for a lot of people.

I've got to be referred to the dental hospital as I've had bleeding and ulcers in my mouth. They won't start me on the azathioprine until I've seen someone. I think he steroids are thinning my skin but I suppose they have to check.

I hope you get your trees planted out in the next few days. I've got a few plants to plant out as well, just need to decide where to put them.

Hi ladies, I had a wonderful time in Australia. The warm weather helped my pains too.
I was there a month but since I returned I have been catching up with all sorts of things.
It's lovely you are asking after me.
Lucy, I have read about your fall. Gracious me! You have been in the wars. I know how you must have felt, as my recovery from the fall was very traumatic.
I still feel strange in the knee area too, but know I need knee joints.
I also have an aweful cold/ chest/ nasal problems. Its also due to the medication and immune system, as we know.
I saw dolphins parrots and kangeroos, in the wild. But no spiders or snakes this visit.
We went to Perth for five days. The Margaret river area too, which has lovely places to see en-route. We had a super time.
But home now and my bathroom and kitchen neeqd decorating.
My next trip is in June to my daughters in Switzerland. She is coming over a few days beforehand with her mother in law to stay with me and we all fly back together. I have booked the train to Edinburgh one day as Therese, mum in law, has never been. I think she will love all the Tartan and the history. She is French but we get on well together.
Going upstairs to collect washing now.

I thought we had seen the last of the sunshine.
It rained last night and was cloudy when I got up. Then the sun came out so another day in the garden. I am making the most of it.

The pain in your hip may have been muscular. I am glad you are progressing so well. I hope the infusion helps those ankles of yours.

I hope sleekfox doesn't leave us I will miss her.

Did you go to bed early I always say I am having an early night but never do. If I fall asleep to early I wake in such pain in the morning. Sounds stupid I know but my joints suffer if I am in bed too long.

Pleased to hear the sunshine came out for you. It has been beautiful here again. When it changes as it will. Won't I be disappointed. My garden is full of blossom on all the trees we bought last year and the new ones it looks lovely. One down pour and I bet it will all be gone. We have finished off planting all the trees and shrubs we purchased. It is now beginning to look great.
It has been really hard but hopefully next year we can spend more time sitting in it.

Hi ladies, it's sunny here too but chilly.
I am going to see Rheumatology nurse today. They want me to start Sulpha'. I am not too excited about that as Plaquenil and Leflunamide did not suit me when I tried them.
I have a huge knee, the one I was operated on too, I need an injection as it's full of fluid. I don't think she will do it as they don't seem to be trained for that. I'll asked to get pushed in with the specialist but I know it won't be today as he only visits this hospital weekly.
Oh it's aweful when these things happen it really slows life down! As you will all know.
Read the latest posts and see your going through similar things. So love to all, and we all keep battling on. X

Hi Emm, That's not so good if your knee is so swollen, I hope you can arrange with the nurse today to get someone that's experienced to drain it for you. We have a doctor that works one day a week at the hospital I attend and he is excellent in doing it but very difficult getting an appointment with him, I agree that you do need someone that knows what they're doing for it to be successful. Do you think it's the arthritis or a result of the injury?

My ankles are very sore again and this thigh pain is making it very sore to walk. Like yourself I get fed up with it. Let us know how you get on.

Hi Emm, Just take it easy then until you get it drained, you're better waiting for a few days and getting the specialist to do it. I take the sulpha and have done now for years, I remember taking terrible pains in my stomach when I first went on them but I'm not sure if it they were the reason or if it was an ulcer I had, I was given tablets for an ulcer and they helped it, either that or it was my body getting getting used to the sulpha. Good luck with it and remember and take it after food and with plenty water. xx

My daughter was taken into hospital yesterday, the doctor came out and called an ambulance for her, not quite sure what's wrong yet, she was violently sick and very high temperature and low blood pressure and ECG showed some changes. Oh bless her. What ever it is it will be treatable. Try not to worry I had my problems as you know and when they mention heart it is worrying. I am here with my little pacemaker doing it's job and I really don't think about it any more until that little yearly appointment drops through the post.
Hopefully it is nothing I have had a heart murmur since I was 14 but that's just me. So it could be something like that.

I am okish. I have had a rough few days but I am trying to get on with it what else can we do?
My hips are giving me so much pain need to get a check done but it is probably where I am walking wrong to ease my back. It's a no win situation as you well know.

Hi Lucy, lovely sunshine again but a bit nippy. Just put my washing out fingers crossed. I woke this morning at 7 with a migraine just starting to go off a bit. Keeping my self busy to try to ignore it I feel as sick as a dog.

I would try to get a quicker appointment just for peace of mind. Orthopaedics would be better. I would mention it at your rhumey appointment they might be able to push it on for you with ortho.

I am so fed up at the moment I just don't want any more bad news. My mum has just been diagnosed with Dementia and is going to see a specialist to see if they are agreeable to put her on some treatment to slow it down. When she had the test I was a bit shocked she is a little worse than I thought. I suppose because she lives with me I put it down to straight forward age related she is 89yrs after all. It is such a shame because she is in such good health for her age.
They will be putting things in place so I can still holiday with my other half. She would normally stay with my daughter but I am not sure I want to burden her with all this she works a 12 hour shift and the last time my daughter had to come home from work twice.
Sorry to go on but I know I wont be judged for going on and on.
Once I have all this sorted I am going to try to have a holiday even if it is a short break over here. I have put everything on hold at the moment.

Anyway enough of my woes you take care and rest that hip up. xxx

Oh dear Lucy good job your daughter was around. My daughter had the same thing recently her thermostat had gone. She decided to treat her self to a new one as hers was 10yrs old.

There is always somewhere to spend your money. LOL.
The washing was all dried by the time I got back from food shopping.
I went later in the day clothes shopping and treated myself to a few bits.

The sun stayed out all day but the wind was cold. Still a lovely day.

Hi Lois, It has been wet here all day, not nice at all and really cold too. I was at the hospital today and they said I haven't got osteoporosis so that is something. It was a very worthwhile visit, the nurse said she was going to see if the physio was available and he was so he is going to get me an urgent appointment for physiotherapy and I was also given insoles, he said I have a 2cm difference in leg length, the operated side is shorter.

My daughter seems a lot better just now and is back at work.

I called the makers of the oven and they said they will send someone out to have a look at it FOC, if they come I will be impressed with their service considering it is no longer under guarantee.

It has got quiet on here, I hope bsk does come back on, and Emm and Lara too. I often wonder how Lynn is doing.

My youngest daughter is off to Thailand tomorrow for a holiday, she is also 4 months pregnant so hope all will be ok.

Thank you Lois, We went to the Mar Menor when we were in Murcia years ago and I put some of the mud on my swollen knee but unfortunately it didn't do much for me. It was funny though seeing people rolling about in the mud and I'm sure some must have got benefits from it. The area is meant to be very healthy.

When I came out the shower this morning a spot I've had on my leg for a while started to bleed, with everything else that's been going on I haven't had a chance to see about it, anyway I have made an appointment with doc. as I think it's another basal cell and the first appointment is next Friday, we have one doctor working in the surgery...no use that if it's something urgent.

The sun has come out now so hope it stays for a wee while. It would be lovely to have a place in the sun, I like watching those programs. One can but dream.

I'm beginning to think we are the only two on the forum now. lol. It would be nice for some others to come on.

Morning Ladies, hope you all had a good week-end. The weather was a bit hit and miss.
I managed a bit of gardening yesterday. Sunday evening we went out for a Curry. Saturday at my daughters all day and she made a Mexican meal.
So all in all good bank holiday.
The steroids kept my pain at bay and now I am waiting for it to reappear as the steroids are finished. Still it has been nice to just have a few aches rather than full blown pain.

Off to see Consultant for Mum on Thursday fingers crossed he will be happy to provide meds for her.

Well I need to get off my bum and do something LOL.

Hi Lucy, it is so windy here today. Kept the rain away thou. I have to say it hasn't been cold. Still have blue skies at the moment. It did rain all night and it is forecast for more rain. No wonder we have such a hard time with it all. I need some Spanish sunshine.

How nice a walk along the Prom finished off with a pub meal. Reminds me of when I used to visit Mum & Dad.
I hope your brother is ok I am sure he is. The trouble is we tend to forget we are all getting older.
Hope the oven isn't too much everything is so expensive.
I cooked my bacon joint in my slow cooker today. I have two now large and a small one. Great little kitchen helpers.
When I have a lot to feed I just make Kleftica (lamb) and Stiffado (beef) Leave in the slow cooker all day.
Lots of Salad & Rice and different pull apart breads a couple of bottles of wines. Job done. A little trick I learned from Cyprus.

How strange at least you have a good working oven. Odd to say the least. At least it was a positive outcome. You must be having a ROAST dinner today LOL.
Lucy I love cooking although I am finding it difficult cooking for more than just us now. I am exhausted for days after the family have all been here. I hate the idea of not being able to have a big family gathering especially at holiday times.
We have had Christmas in Hotels with all the family but it isn't the same.

Hi Lucy, oh dear sorry to hear you need to have further treatment for your leg. Shame you didn't get it done today. I hate waiting around to have things done too much time to think. The month will so come around.

The sun was shining but it is all grey now. I need some sun shine. LOL.

Mum saw the consultant yesterday and they started her on the meds straight away. I was so glad to hear I took her to get the ball rolling at the right time. Left to late and they can't medicate.
The pills won't cure her but fingers crossed will slow it all down.
I had a visit today from a Professor from the Dementia NHS department (at my home). I learned so much today in 30 minute visit. He will be visiting me a few times and then will be at the end of a phone. Nice to know some one will be there for me.

I feel washed out today my pain is bad must be the steroids running out.

Hope all you ladies are ok and of course all you gentlemen.

I am falling apart I am in pain and the quiet day I was expecting turned out to be full on. My Son arrived then two of our friends arrived then my brother and his wife. Not much standing room left. I was making tea and coffee all afternoon and trying to chat to every one. It would have been easier one at a time. LOL It is lovely to see everyone but I wasn't ready for it.

My Niece is coming tomorrow fingers crossed it will just be her she is lovely and I only see her a couple of times a year. It would be nice just to sit with Mum and my niece and catch up.

It has gone very quiet on here I hope every one is well.

Hi Lucy it has been beautiful here today. Mum Niece and I sat in the garden all afternoon. My youngest son popped round and he had a long chat with his cousin. They always have got on so well.
Mum has gone up to her room to get in bed and watch TV she is tired out but said she has had a lovely week-end seeing everyone.

Sorry those ankles are still giving you a rough time. I hurt a lot still.
I am sofa surfing now so a quiet evening I hope.

My daughter is coming for the day Tuesday so need a bit of rest as we usually go shopping.

Hi Lois, I do hope it isn't PA that you have but it's best to get it checked out and see the people that know. Have you never been to a rheumatologist about your arthritis?

Did you buy anything nice on your shopping trip, Lois?

I'm fed up with all the hospital visits, if it isn't me it's my daughter, she had the heart scan yesterday but no results yet and the eye hospital tomorrow. It's always a bit stressful.

I started physio last week so I'm hoping it helps, I don't suppose it will do anything for the difference in leg length, unless they can stretch it lol.

Well a second opinion is well overdue, Lois. I hope it won't be too long to wait.

How did the hairdressers appointment go? , oh I see it's tomorrow you go, I've just checked the date of your message, lol. funny I tried to phone my hairdresser today as mine is needing done too and there was no answer, so either they have a problem with their phone or they have closed down. I will try and drive out tomorrow and see.

A night at the theatre will be nice. Do you have a local theatre or do you go into London?

My daughter's appointment went well today and she didn't need anything done this time.

I think sleekfox has fallen out with us, perhaps she was just getting fed up listening to my moans.

You moan away, Lucy! I'm sorry I haven't been on here but I've been dealing with my own stuff. Went for a steroid injection today so am hoping things will pick up soon. I so know what you mean about the hospital appointments.

Lois, I'm glad you are being referred to a rheumatologist. It would be very good to rule out an inflammatory arthritis but, if you have got one, you could get some appropriate treatment. I hope it goes well.

Evening everyone, sorry I haven't been on for a while. Just been resting after work to be honest. Glad the weather was better today as was able to take dog for a walk and I enjoy that fresh air time given I'm stuck in a room with no windows 8hours a day! Why don't you phone up the hospital and find out? I had to really push to be seen within a reasonable time and I was really bad. Couldn't walk etc.

I had injection into my shoulder and wrist on thursday. My shoulder was both RA and OA, he thought. Bah. Nice to get off the codeine though!

Hi ladies, How are you all doing? I went to see my daughter last week, it was lovely having some sunshine. Couldn't believe how cold it was when I got home, it was like winter, thankfully today is a bit better and managed to get the washing hung outside. I am having bother with the muscle in my back again, I am sitting here at the moment with my massager on my back. Not feeling too good at all but I could be worse so I will try not to complain.

The forum has been very quite of late, hope it doesn't mean you are all suffering.

Hi Lois, It's been a better day here today so hoping this is the long awaited summer starting at last.

When were you in hospital, was that a while ago? I really hope you get that appointment soon. That's not right that your husband is being ignored, I think you will just have to keep at them, it's bad enough suffering without not getting some help.

I'm sitting here with the massager on my back again, I don't know why this muscle keeps playing up but it's a horrible sensation. I will ask the physiotherapist tomorrow if it could be coming from the hip as I am still walking abnormally.

How are you sleekfox? it would be nice to hear from you again. It's also been a while since Emm has been on, I can see us all falling away.
I hope Lara is well too.

That's good Lois, I hope you get some word soon from them. You have certainly waited long enough. I hope they can offer you some help.

I have a few appointments too over the next few weeks, next Monday I am going to get the basal cell removed from my shin, I'm not looking forward to that, well they think it is a basal cell. Then ten days later I have my infusion and physio in between, I feel if I worked at the hospital I wouldn't spend a lot more time there.

I hope everyone is keeping well. It's quite dull here but at least it's dry so I won't complain.

Hi I just had two in between Australia and Switzerland.
Rheum' doctor took about five phialls of fluid then injected.
Two weeks later it was up again and my GP did it , taking off 35 mls of fluid and injecting again.
I feel its swelling again but I have been very active.
I suppose I am ready for a new joint but being in hospital last October wasn't nice and I don't relish the thought of it so soon again.
Keep as well as possible girls. Love Emm x

I know it has been raining all day and really heavy at times. We got soaked when we came out of Tesco's.

I am in so much trouble with my hip or back or whatever it is. We dropped into the fish and chip shop and got a take away. Not something I usually do. I felt a bit guilty but I just couldn't face cooking.

I am having all the family around tomorrow and I am hoping the weather is ok so we can get the BBQ out and one of my son's will be Chef for the day.

Oh Lois, so sorry about your dog.
My daughters dog is poorly too, she can hardly get up and walk, she sleeps a lot. The family realise she is not going to get any better but I think they are delaying visiting the vet as he may suggest putting her to sleep. It is arthritis with the dog too, but she is also 14.
So we understand how you must be feeling.
They are family members too.

It will take a while, lois, she was a member of your family for a long time and it is very hard, I still miss Millie, it does take a while getting used to coming in and her not there at the door waiting on me, but I can now think of her without feeling so upset. Just remember that you gave her a good life.

We have the rain with us today and this muscle in my back is really driving me mad, I was at the diabetic clinic today with my daughter and when I went to sit down it started again, I was almost in tears with it, but don't know what can be done about it.

I have a busy week with hospital appointments, if my bloods are ok then I am getting the infusion on Thursday. It could be the way I'm walking that's caused the back pain, lois, I never had back problems before. I tried cutting my toenails before we went to Spain so it is possible that caused it as I really over stretched. I won't be doing that again.

That's good that you're getting something at long last, s/f. I really hope this one suits you and doesn't cause any problems. I'm not supposed to take alcohol either but I do take a wee glass of wine now and again which is every other day lol.

I don't do too good in the sun either although I do like to see it, I now wear factor 30 and keep my neck covered where I had a basal cell. Getting the stitches on my shin out on Friday.

I have the phsyio on Wednesday, I've been going for a while now because of the hip, to be honest I don't know that it's helped an awfully lot, but then I haven't been doing the exercises the way I should as I have been so sore.

Think Andy is playing tomorrow, get your feet up and enjoy it.

Yes, they can make a bit of a mess so it really pays to get any spot that lasts longer than a month checked out. I have still to get the results of the biopsy but it resembled the one I had before, I think they just remove anything suspicious now and then do the biopsy, well in my case they did.

Well, more news from Fox Towers. I saw my rheumy this morning and it is looking like I may be approved for Abatacept. Yay! I had a steroid injection and it seems my knee is swollen. I can't tell any more. I've started the Azothioprine but may not be on it for long. Am resting up and watching the tennis at the moment. Although it's in the 30s outside, my flat is cool, around 22 degrees. Hope you are all keeping cool in this weather.

I tried orthotics but couldn't get any of my shoes on as I have a high instep anyway! You can buy shoes where you can remove the normal insole to put in your orthotic one.

I love my basement flat in this weather. It's 12 degrees cooler than the outside temp.
