Subject: The old one two ! Ankylosing Spondylitis

Hello all fellow AS sufferers! I've been in a lot of pain in the past but am now in pretty much complete control - despite a lot of work stress!

Gluten opens the door and then gut bacteria can trigger the immune response.

Some recent discovered medical article - the mechanism for AS - intestinal permeability to bacteria caused by gliadin in wheat. BTW - anti-gliadin-antibodies are increased in nearly all auto immune diseases. :(

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/19215694/

Then this one I've talked about before about bacteria called "klebsiella"

So you can see how the two things go hand In hand and why I feel better on a non gluten diet and then better still in emergencies I follow a low starch diet to dampen down my flare.

I could switch my AS back on and induce a full scale attack within 2 weeks - by having a sandwich and a few pints of beer!

...and no NSAID drugs ever, not even Ibuprofen - they are just short term gain for long term pain.

Eat clean.. Detox low / no carb (paleo diet) for 2 weeks - and aim to go no drugs. It can be done with lots of discipline.
