Subject: hello all and advice regarding elbow (possible oa)?

Hi all its bern a long time since I posted on here.
Hope you are all well. X

Well I had my son 3 weeks ago and just dealing with ra and a baby is quite hard again but so worth it. My 5 yr old is amazing with him and im so proud of him.
Durring my c-section I was given steroid infusion which as done wonders but my elbow just doesn't ease with anything I do. I have tried exercises physiotherapy gave me, tried hot and cold theropy and nothing. I have ra but worried I have oa in my elbow as I have lost mobility can not straight or bend all the way. It is very painful no matter what I do, rest or moving it. The pain goes down my arm to my wrist and my thumb which I can not twist. I got rheumy in sep but until then my gp won't/can't help as I still have big amounts of steroid in my system.

Anyone with oa relate to the pain that I am explaining? X

Hi Davina, firstly congratulations on your new little one. So pleased for you as I know how important this was to you. Oh I bet his big brother is so in awe of him. How lovely they will be playmates in a short time. Well done YOU!!!!!!!

I had an elbow operation many moons ago and I have to say sounds familiar but the operation I had was a total success. It doesn't mean you have OA. I know September seems far off but it will be here before you know it. The GP's are not happy about given steroids to OA patients but it does help and why they are set against it I am not sure.

Davina don't leave it so long before giving us an update on how the little one is doing. What did you name him. Hug for Lucas.

Take care and keep your chin up and make sure you get some rest in(somehow). I suppose that is a stupid thing to say when you have a new baby.
Best wishes to you all xxxxxxxxxx

Hi marlene i had a horrible pregnancy and for the last month I just sleeped lol
My new little one is Aiden, born 4th july at 2:36

Lucus loves him so much and really good, helps with every thing he can which helps me. Nothing is to much and he volunteers to get what is needed.

Ok so what operation did you have marlene? Would o need my rhumy to get an xray or gp could get me one? X

I had an operation for Tennis Elbow and the also filed/chipped OA away. Home Next day painful for a while but the result was well worth it.

I had to see a Rhumy consultant and had a scan to reveal all the damage.
Prior to the operation I had steroid injections into the elbow. They were quiet good for a while but you are advised not to have more than three. I had five in all that keep me pain free for about 18 months.
Your GP could get things going for you but maybe just wait until September and be quiet forceful about getting them to cheek it for you.

By the way lovely name Aiden. I bet the horrible pregnancy was sooooo worth it!!!

Best wishes again. Please keep in contact xxxxx

Congratulations Davina! I'm so pleased for you.

Regarding your elbow, I'd doubt it was OA, you are a bit young for that to suddenly come on, IMHO. Can't you ring your rheumy department and get them to see you in a clinic? That's usually what I do. You need to get rapid help, especially with a new baby on the scene. They may be able to get a rapid appointment to have an injection in your elbow. Please don't leave it until your appointment. xx
