Subject: just wondering how do you cope with the loss of a partner and having arthiritis?

Just wondering how everyone is.I just recently lost my husband 6 week's ago and don't how I am supposed to go on.

He was my carer and my life and just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience? Deborah.

Hi Deborah, welcome to the forum. I'm really sorry you have lost your husband. That must be so incredibly hard. 6 weeks is very recent and I expect you are still in shock. I haven't been in your situation but I have seen my father after my mother died and, though he was her carer, and it was very hard. I think you just have to take things day by day, try and distract yourself and make sure you contact friends and family to get the support you need.

As to managing with the arthritis, have you contacted your local social services or occupational therapist? You can yet assessed, or reassessed and see if things can be put in place to help you more. You usually can just ring them up. Also, talk to your gp to see what services are available in your area. Also, contact Age UK as they can point you in the right direction for help and any other agencies you can think of who might be able to provide support.

Good to hear you've got some support. Bereavement counselling might help too, though it might be a bit early for that.
