Subject: Re: Grandchild injections
Morning Karl Not heard this one. As far as I know, live vaccines should be avoided for yourself whilst on mtx and if you come into contact with chicken pox and haven't had it then it could pose a problem. My grand kids had chicken pox a while back so I checked with GP, said I had had it but didn't really know the answer but at the end of the day chicken pox is contagious before the spots come out so not much you can do about that one anyway. Tetanus is not a live vaccine. I got alarm bells from the rheumy nurse having been bitten by a dog recently and gone to GP's nurse for a booster as mine was out of date. Told nurse meds I was on and she said fine. Rheumy nurse checked and it is not a live vaccine so no problems. All I can say is that I have been around my grandkids when they have had their immunisations, hugs, cuddles the lot but if you are concerned, perhaps you should check it out with your rheumy nurse.
