Subject: Pain Behind the eye

Hi everyone on this forum, please can anyone tell me if they have suffered with pain behind the eye? I am a rheumatoid arthritis sufferer and have been for around 12 years. I am going to have my first infusion in July. So as one can imagine when it comes to having new drugs we all get so scared. I am just asking if anyone has problems with pain behind the eye? I am getting severe headaches and don't know what to do? I have been to the opticians got new glasses and they said behind my eyes are healthy, so I guess that is a positive, but the glasses have not helped me with the pain, it is driving me nuts and hope someone on this forum can help me or give me some suggestions as to what to do?

Go to your GP and ask for some tests. Severe headaches don't come from your eye, IMHO.

You need someone who can look deeper at your eyes and any other causes. A high street optician is limited in what they can see as opposed to an eye specialist who have all sorts of instruments for looking at all parts of your eyes in more detail.

Have you kept any kind of a headache diary which could give a clue to any triggers? I had issues with things like Dianette (pill) and when I changed to artificial sweeteners. Does anything help them like normal painkillers or migraine ones?

You should go and see your GP asap though, get tests in motion to hopefully find out what is causing them and get you some relief.

hi Simone , alot of us with RA has problems with our eyes but its mostly dry eyes & few with Scleritis & Uveitis , some drugs like Chronic prednisone users & hydroxychloroquine can cause problems , but you should go to tour GP & get it checked & they can refer you if needed

Hi Simone - I had a lot of severe headaches when my arthritis was fully active. Dark room, eyes closed, nausea - sleep for hours.

As others have mentioned see the doc - but please bear in mind that there can be other causes that can cross relate to autoimmune diseases.

Does anyone out there know - Do doctors test for this?
