Subject: Re: for denise
Morning lol Early days my dear. I started with the tablets and am now on injections, 20 mg. But ... I am probably not the right person to ask at the mo, cos I feel crap. Consultant declared in Nov that mtx isn't working for me and I am due to go on anti TNF in a couple of weeks. Think it was only the steroids that were helping me and once I weaned off them everything went haywire. But .... these meds take time to work. I think it could be up to 12 weeks before you see any improvement and the dosage you are on is low. This RA is a long and extremely difficult and frustrating road ... there are no quick fix remedies I am afraid. Oh, I wish there were. Stick with it for a while and if the nausea continues see about upping the folic acid. If that doesn't help then injections as opposed to tablets might be the answer cos they by pass the gut. And if the thought of self injecting freaks you out, well, let's put it this way, I find them far easier than sitting here downing umpteen tablets and feeling like a right junkie. And if it helps I am freaking out about these anti TNFs but what choice do we have. We have a nasty disease which if we cant get under control could result in who knows what !!!! And just as a ray of hope, the consultant told me that it is only around 15% of people that mtx doesn't help. So, I happen to be one of those 15% ... bugger, just my usual luck. Stick with it lol, we are all here to listen and help where we can. xxxxx
