Subject: TENS and Hydrotherapy

Hi, hope everyone is doing ok.

Just wondered if anyone has tried either of the above and how they found it.

Have been referred for both and hoping to get the best out of the treatment I can.

Am quite excited about them both. Have wanted to try water for a while. I can't physically swim due to my joints, even with steroid injectioned shoulders, but love the feeling of being weightless in water but too scared to go to a public baths as the thought is quite intimidating, getting in and out of the pool, slipping, so many other people etc...

Even just the faff of changing and getting in and out of a swimming costume and if there are stairs to be negotiated and such.

Grateful for any advice.

Hi Eve , I just came back from doing 1st week of hydrotherapy , mostly doing work on my hip & legs + nice bit of relaxing , myself cant use a normal pool because its so cold & just end up with getting stiff , they will have staff there to help you if you need it

because of problems I have with my ankles & lower leg circulation I use a circulation booster V3 which is a TENS m/c , very good for pain

Oh that sounds good Eve. I agree that the water has to be at the right temperature and public baths are a bit cold for me too. They will have the hydro pool at the right temperature and should be helpful for the joints. Some of the newer pools are easier to get in now and I am actually thinking of joining one but it will probably still be a bit cold. xx

I agree about the cold thing, this should be nice and warm though :) I'm really looking forward to both of them, nice to find a physio that suggests treatments rather than exercises which you just can't do when flaring or then they go hands off as you're flaring etc...

I'm hoping it will give me a bit of confidence to try and get into some gentle swimming.
