Subject: Has anyone tried merino wool mattress covers?
I have been reading on here about some people suffering from "night sweats" due to medication and wonder if anyone uses merino wool products on their beds. On a recent visit to Spain I went on one of those blanket trips where they had a very impressive demonstration of their products and they say they stop night sweats, cramps, bed bugs and help arthritis, asthma etc. They wrapped some ice under the mattress cover and after the demonstration they took the ice out and it hadn't even started melting, I was impressed. They are meant to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. They were very expensive but I see online they can be bought much cheaper and wonder if anyone has tried them and what their experience of them is.

I've wondered about this too Rhona. Let me know if you decide to go ahead and buy one as I would be keen to know if they work.

Hi bsk, NHP (Natural health Products) explain all about them online and their benefits. They are not the cheapest site. Some companies are selling them that have one side merino wool and the underside some other material so they would not be as good. I also think the ones with the straps are better than the fitted ones as all mattresses differ in size and thickness and the fitted ones are a bit like sheets, so annoying when you have to pull and haul at them to get on the bed.

Thanks for that, Rhona. I don't think I would stint on quality with this. I am very tempted.

The above was meant to say dust mites and not bed bugs. (yuch)

Hi Rhona, I have one of those teddy bear mattress covers on my bed, is that the same as you are talking about? I might remove mine to see if it helps during night, but then again it wouldn't help during day when it happens, my scalp gets soaking wet, its horrible, I only have to do something like hoovering and I start 'leaking'
