Subject: Flat feet

Just been told i've got flat feet by my 'new' rheumy guy (he even used the word pancake...), i had no idea it was related to arthritis.
I'm really hoping something as simple as orthopedic insoles might help me, could be a life changer.

He's referred me to the 'foot people' and having an MRI done on them.

Anyone got any experience or ideas about this?

Oh, and apologies for talking about my feet and foodstuffs in the same sentence. ;)

Chris - I don't have flat feet pro aly the opposite but have had foot pain and especially in the soles of my feet. When I used to jump off a chair or wall the bottoms of my feet used to hurt so much. I am quite sure I had a form of plantir fasciitis. I also have slightly curling inward big toes a bit like a bunion. Feet problems are common with arthritis.

Bev - perhaps a bit too specific just any jumping really 😊 but I had remembered a few particular times playing - but could have been jumping off a chair after changing a light bulb!

Chris , had several opps on my ankles & feet are flat , the best people are the foot clinic as they can design a insole just for you , myself I us gel insoles & have for years but they dont realy support your arch & way to late for me with most of my ankles fused

You also lose the fat underneath your feet which cushions them when walking. I've had two very different pairs of insoles from the podiatrist.

They help a bit, but not enough to make a real difference.

I have never heard of flat feet and arthritis Chris. I have RA and I have very high insteps so it's not in my case.
