I've started a detox today and started chopping all veg and butternut squash and I've really really hurt my hands. My middle fingers and wrists especially. I tried to use the prep knife but I couldn't grasp the other end enough.

oooohhh that sounds painful, hope you don't have any more to do. Maybe try the ready chopped veg, bit more expensive but less painful. I find it impossible to prepare swede, just cant cut it or peel it same with potatoes, will have to look out the special knives you can get. Take care and good luck with the detox.

Thank you Julie. As soon as I'm having a relatively 'good day' I start doing things, then suffer afterwards. I'm suffering like crazy. Also, the detox has gone good today thanks.

I have got some ironing to do but I know I will suffer if I do it, (its a good excuse not to do it though) my husband does do most of the ironing for us now but I still feel as if I should do it. Maybe detoxing will help symptoms you will have to let us all know if it makes a difference.

Hi Rachael Yep, we all do these silly things and regret it afterwards. With butternut squash, which I find a nightmare, stick it in the oven whole for about half an hour first. I think it is a Jamie Oliver idea but it certainly works. No more battling. Julie don't know whether it would work with swede but might be worth a try.

thanks Denise, good tip about the butternut squash. Did my veg soup the other day took ages peeling and chopping - I BURNT IT. So annoyed I was looking forward to it, made it the day before it was all nice and ready to warm up, put it on to warm, went to sit down for a while, got comfy, fell asleep. Next time I will open a tin!!!
