Subject: rumatoid factor

If you read my other post you will know I have suspected RA (suffering badly from symptoms) waiting on rumatologist appointment just had my bloods taken at docs in the mean time anyway the nurse that took my bloods said she has rumatoid athritis but has never had a rumatoid factor positive and it only presents in 70% of cases is this true? Has anyone else been diagnosed with RA with negative bloods xx

HI
my initial test showed RA factor off the scale - as my doctor put it
but i'm sure there have been other people on here that have had negative bloods like you mum.
I think the bloods are just one way of gauging what you have. Have they done any other tests or xrays etc?
hope you are feeling ok today
xx

Rheumatoid Factor or Anti CCP have never showed up in my bloods and I have been poorly for four years with Rheumatoid type symptoms - at one point being completely debilitated in bed unable to move :-( Still have lots of pain and swelling but now able to drive again/go out for coffee with friends :-) Yes, I would agree with your nurse from what I have read. Sending best wishes and hope that you get your appointment soon....x

Hiya, did u get ur blood results? Did he also do your inflammatory markers as you say with ra u can gave a negative rheumotoid factor. I have psoriatic arthritis which doesn't show on rheumotoid factor either. My X-rays were also fine, wasn't til I got MRI that it showed and my crp and esr were high x
