Subject: Knee joints.

Would anyone who has had new knee replacements like to post and let me know how it has been for them.

Is it a long recovery period. Are there different types, suppose I mean what they are made of.

When all is healed do you walk better with much movement and do you feel they are strong.

Hope you know what I mean. Thanks, look forward to posts.

Hi Emm, my neighbour had both of her knees replaced. She didn't ever tell me the details but she was a young 70yrs and said the best thing she did. She was back driving 10 weeks later and walking back to her normal self. I couldn't believe how spritely she was after, she had walked with sticks for so long. When I had my back surgery there was a lady about 50 or so that had had knees done and was on her way home after 6days.
I don't know anything else about it. Hope this helps you to make a decision. It is hard and Emm you are right to ask for information.

Take care I hope this helps you a bit xx

hi emm yes i had an mri scan and xrays i was on steroid injections for a year and they worked for me but you can only have four a year and my 3rd one wore off very quickly and the pain was the worst pain i have ever had they had to give me another on which was my last in sept. i was put on the waiting list for my replacement which i had 3weeks ago. if i had a choice and know what i know now i would not have gone on the steroids i would have said just put me down for the op. i was at my third physio today, said i was doing really well, because i am doing my exercises it really does make a difference to your recovery. i am on one crutch now and am back in two weeks i have to do the exercises three times a day it takes about 35 mins but you do get faster and you have to push through the pain. i cant have pain releif as when i was in hosp the pain killers blocked my bowel and i cant have them now only paracetamol let me know how you go on at clinic make a note of what you want to ask. if you want to know anything let me know you will be fine good luck x
