Subject: Do these liver rotting drugs work ?

I read these posts and there doesn't seem to be anyone that has found remission or even a let up in pain when on these drugs prescribed by rheumatologists. Does N.I.C.E endorse them as they keep everyone with these diseases ticking over upto retirement age so as to make it cost effective & then you die off quickly due to drug side effects and that saves the N.H.S billions ?

Why River? you found a miracle cure for us then have you.
go get lost and annoy someone else
YES i have found remission and
YES i have got let up in pain and
YES i will carry on taking these liver rotting drugs as it means I can walk
which means i can get about and do things in my life that i couldn't do before taking these liver rotting drugs
look on the bright side oh caustic you - my meds cost a feckin fortune to the NHS but don't worry i've paid MY stamp to get the meds and believe it or not we are monitored to make sure that our livers are ok
oh and i still work so still pay my stamp to the nhs
so go jump in the road and take your caustic manner elsewhere
you and anyone else like you with your shortsighted opinions are NOT welcome on this forum
OK
have a good afternoon
now I shall pop off and take my daily meds :)

No Willis I have not found a miracle cure. I am taking the liver rotting drugs and nothing is working for me. Why are you so angry and nasty? Are opinions, suggestions and different ways of looking at things not welcome here ?

Message to Willis, what a nasty piece of work are you ???? River, if the medication you are on at the moment isn't working then maybe you should get some advice from your rheumy. It can take time to get it right, it did with me.

Thanks Bev, I have reached rock bottom and nothing is working. The pain and the lack of sleep is becoming unbearable.Doctors just keep dishing out more of the same and nothing works.

Hi River,

Willis is actually very nice but maybe thought you were a troll.? Anyway, I agree with Bev's point about talking to your rheumy and maybe getting a change of drugs.

Please do post, this is actually a very supportive forum, which you will find out if you stick around.

p.s. a troll is someone who deliberately upsets a thread or posts inflammatory things in order to wind people up. We get an awful lot on here who post about how awful the drugs are, NHS conspiracy theories.Easy to make a mistake and I've done it myself on occasion.

River
MY APOLOGIES TO YOU UNRESERVEDLY

Your post sounded like someone else who was bashing the help that the medics try to give us to make life more livable
If your meds are not working then you have my utmost empathy and understanding because I have been there.

I am not a rotten person
I am not a troll
I do not need anger management MMM and
David - do come on the site
Bev - i am not a nasty piece of work
the support on here is good

Read the other posts I have contributed to

The people I talk to on here have kept me going on more than one occasion

Can any of you honestly say you haven't seen the posts that are more demeaning than what i said to River in a moment of frustration when I thought the comment was yet another insult to those who do suffer some type of Arthritis or similar

River
your post sounded too much like a slight on the meds in a bad way - that is why i reacted the way i did
I am fed up of the trolls on here
I am fed up of people who come on telling us to try this or take that and making people who do come on this site feel worse than they do.

I hope you have more help soon and some relief and again I apologise for making you feel worse.

lol willis , normally its me getting in trouble

River , please tell us what drugs they giving you , I agree with you some what & these expensive drugs dont work for most of us but they are happy to give them out like the Simponi I take

strange the thing that did work for myself was flucloxacillin penicillin with my CRP going from 29 to 3.9 in two weeks but obviously they wont let us have anything like that long term

I do hope you continue to use the site River, we do all help each other and when the pain makes us frustrated it is good to come on and rant so please continue to come on and you too DAVID, let's all forgive and forget and help each other. x

Well I must say, not been boring on here today!!!Colin, are you suggesting that maybe, just a little bit, antibiotics worked for you???? I do respect you for mentioning your crp results as I know how you feel about antibiotic therapy from your previous posts. Its working well for me.

Lilly , I have been on Sulfasalazine since 1996 & as you know is a combination drug containing an anti-inflammatory compound and an antibiotic but it dont work for me & never realy has but its cheap & they dont care much if it works or not , of the normal drugs MTX is the best of them & if the doctors give out the right amount of folic acid most people dont get the side effects but the doctors dont because they think the drug wont work so well

did the penicillin work , yes & was felling pretty good after taking them for two weeks , I would like to try minocycline but dont think here in Cornwall they will let me have them because our NHS got this thing about giving out antibiotics ,

Colin

I have to say when I saw your comments re your CRP and antibiotics on another thread, my immediate thought was antibiotic protocol. But try persuading the consultants. You may remember mine said it was 'old school' and so I now wait for funding for a drug that is going to cost the NHS £10,000 a year!

Back on 4,3,2,1 course of steroids in the meantime which certainly have helped considerably but after years of fighting my health, I have to say the thought of trying a new drug that might not work while another year goes by, really is getting to me.

Do let us know if you get anywhere pursuing the minocycline because in my book I reckon it is worth a try. Am I right in thinking that if you have had your spleen removed you are given a continual dose of antibiotics ??

Denise , think there is two Colin's on here , one with PsA & myself with RA since 1996 , I not had spleen removed , the only problems had with Methotrexate is high liver results & had to come off the drug & when going back they increased my folic acid to 6 days a week & now its been normal for years

of the anti-tnf , enbrel did help with blood results but had problems with the site injection & Simponi has not worked but it does with alot of people , the drugs dont cost the NHS the amount we would have to pay

personally I need to know if minocycline would help would still like to take methotrexate along side it , if it was that simple as any antibiotic would work then Sulfasalazine should have but it dont ,

Amazing how this thread has caught every ones attention. I read the first post and ignored it as my thoughts were the same as Willis. When people post they might choose their words a bit more carefully as people who suffer everyday do get fed up with those who complain about the NHS without them I would be lost.
WILLIS I love you sweetheart!!!!

Welcome to all the newbies on here and hi to all who read the posts and have come on just to be negative.
Take care everyone.

If Marlene hadn't jumped in and condoned the comment, the subject would've been dropped. Troll or not, Willis realised her post was wrong and so she apologised. Any other forum she would've been barred from the site, no excuse for that kind of tirade, end of !!

Oh come on, you haven't got better things to do, be honest. The famous five spend their lives on here, prowling the site and bringing down anyone new that has a different opinion to their own. This used to be a great forum a few years back, but now seems to be dominated by five women, sad.

MMM, I noticed your post whilst prowling the site again and I guess I am one of the famous five that you are talking about. I can honestly say that I have never brought anyone down that had a different opinion and I actually welcome different opinions on the forum. I am sorry that you feel we have taken over the forum but we do enjoy chatting to each another and supporting one another and welcome anyone else that wishes to join in. Perhaps I am a bit sad but I guess you must be prowling the site too if you have noticed so many of our posts.

That's great that you support one another, but its not nice when you group together and trash anyone new that comes along. What happened yesterday was a prime example and it was horrible. This site was set up for everyone to use and not be dominated by self appointed moderators. You shouldn't assume everyone isn't genuine, that poor guy seemed in dire need of support and he/she wasn't given a chance. Enough said.

MMM,
just a little post for you. I made a comment and you had to make another comment about Willis. Not necessary at all. Please don't say this thread has continued because of my post. You also are not a moderator but sound like you would like to be.
I think you are quite enjoying yourself but you are now becoming rude. So maybe you would like also to apologise and call it quits.
Our famous five post in the beginning was only two so now its five and any one wanting to join is all the better. Long may our support for one and other continue.

Little message for Marlene, an apology to you ? never. I will though reply to all your messages, and that should please you, as you seem to want to keep this thread on top of the page. I don't like being patronised and I don't like newbies on this site being scared off when you or the rest of the ladies in your group don't like something. Balls in your court sweetheart x
