Subject: What to do
Hi all I am really at a loss what to do feel so exhausted all the time and in a lot of pain, even the slightest touch hurts. The most painful areas are my neck and shoulders, but I hurt all over, I was told I have cervical spondylitis, a couple of years ago, told it was just old age I am 53. No treatment offered. I have been back a few times but just fobbed off. Some days I don't want to get out of bed. Should I go back and make a fuss I really don't know what to do any more.

Hi Meg, Have you been referred to a rheumatologist? if not go to your doctor and insist that you are referred. I am not sure what the treatment is for cervical spondylitis but there will be something to help you and your doctor has no right to fob you off so go back and be firm. Good luck.

hi Meg a lady i worked with was diagnosed with this. they have given her tablets - mainly painkillers of sorts but one other tablet given to RA sufferers - sorry can't remember the name of them it was given to her by a rheumatologist. she was on steroids but they are weaning her off of these so they can see 'real' symptoms as the steroid masks these. her main pain is her hips but like you she is exhausted and really shouldnt' be working. i'd go back to docs and ask for referral to rheumatologist and ask for their help i hope you get help soon keep us posted xx

Hi Meg, I started off with my neck and shoulders a few years ago like you. They gave me diclofenac. That helped. I now have it in my hands and feet.. well allover really. As the others said, go back, lay it on thick, affecting your work, can't sleep etc. Good luck Linda x
