Subject: seronegative spondyloarthropathy (psoriatic arthritis)

have just been researching what i was told today at my appointment, it seems that he thinks i have seronegative spondyloarthropathy, has anyone else got this?? it is under the seronegative arthritis umbrella but is a bit different in that it's the tendons where they connect to the joints that are affected from what i can see, but the sacroiliac joint that is involved too and this can become fused (i think i understood that correctly), the consultant is going to discuss my case with the chief radiographer to see if i should have an MRI, I have to have physio and see the OT for splints etc. He also recommends that i have the carpal tunnel operation as this is still there despite an injection recently. All in all i was impressed with the rheumy, seemed to know straight away what it was after hearing my history (20 years of various problems). I have also had blood taken to see if the gene HLA B27 is present (usually is in this case). Basically it is psoriatic arthritis (didn't realise i had psoriasis!!!).

Hi Anita

altho I origionally had Reiters diagnosed, it soon turned into Inflamatory arthritis, im HLA B27Pos, so predisposed to Reiters...think when we have these conditions, we all go under the Spondy Umbrella....one of my rhuatologists beleives im R.A. also, yet another one says NO! bloods are good at mo, but I could be seroneg R.A., Also had DDD(disc degeneration disease) and Cervical spondy, so all in all....fallling apart!

Glad your happier, and get the corrects Meds very soon

Love Jill x

you poor thing, nightmare. I looked at my blood results at work today, CRP and ESR both normal as always, in fact my bloods are perfect. The CCP has gone off to shefield as my hospital doesn't do that test, so will be interesting to see if that's normal, not sure where the HLA test has gone to, i didn't notice on computer!

I was diagnoised with sero negative (RA) a few weeks back after being told it was osteo, as I'm only 48 my x rays of hands wrist and feet are that of a 70 plus lady, according to my surgeon he was amazed at the damage to my joints, basically my joints including my toes and feet are becoming badly deformed and very very painful that along with SMA in my other arm and neck along with spondelothesis in my back makes my life pretty hard at times

I was diagnosed with this condition 1.5 years ago but have had it for a long time. sulphasalazine doesn't help, had lumbar spinal fusion which has not worked. Consultant says she can't offer me anything further like anti tnf. would be interested to hear from anyone that has this condition - it is also called undifferentiated spondyloarthropathy - USpa for short.
