Subject: Medication suggestions needed please?
I have had RA for 13 years but the last year has been hell. I've lost two jobs through not being managed properley or at all really.
After 11years my consultant retired, the new consultant saw me twice and discharged me saying my condition was fibromyalgia not RA. 6 months on and my hands, wrists,elbows, shoulders neck, chest and soles of my feet, ankles and toes swell badly. My RA blood test is reading 73 and I'm struggling to get an appointment to see a different consultant. I'm tired of fighting but every morning I have to decide which hand to use to brush my teeth, pick up my cup of tea, kettle and grill pan. Driving to work is dangerous early in the day. It used to take me 1-2 hours to get moving but now it can be 4 hours. I'm on gabapentin, naproxen and duloxetine plus calciferol twice a month. I've had methotrexate tablets,and injections. Sulphasalazine, tramadol, zomorph, lodine and more.

Oh Sharon, just had to reply as I totally understand.
It is such a battle to get help when you are struggling. You just don't know where to turn for it sometimes.
I am not going to make any suggestions as you probably know as much as any of us. I just totally sympathise, identify and feel for you. Hugs for you and good luck. X

Totally depressed with the whole situation,like you said you get to the point where you don't know where to turn for help.

I understand how you feel too. If I could stay in bed all day I would! I wake up every morning feeling there's nothing to get up for. I've only been diagnosed for about 18 months but feel my life is over. I only see more pain, more deformity in the future.
What's the point? Can't seem to count my blessings. Feel, isolated, depressed and nowhere to turn. Doesn't help that I have no one to talk to.

blood hell Sharon , that consultant needs to be struck off , you dont get swelling with fibromyalgia or raised CRP/ESR methotrexate is the best of the non biologics , what strength did you take & how much folic acid did they give you , & why did you come off the drug & its about time they offer you one of the biologics , you need to realy conplain about the treatment you are being given
