Hi Karen

My AS has been predominantly a connective tissue disorder with the cartilidge, tendons and muscles becoming inflammed, sore then hardening to a crunchy, stiff glue (rib cage and muscles around my back being the worse). A few joints effected but mostly connective tissue!

I've thought for a long time that disease names are convenient labels - we are not all that easy to pigeonhole.

Did the rheumi say that your issues were RA on non typical?

Karen , it sorts of goes with RA , if you look up connective tissue disorder on wiki it list Lupus , RA & Sjgren's syndrome ,

think they may be checking for Lupus which is treated by Hydroxychloroquine (dramd) & steriods , alot of us suffer with our eyes like Sjgren's but they used plotting paper to check that

I would look up Lupus , several people has it along with RA , you are lucky to have RA in remission , mine never has

Ive had a read of the dif ctd & my symptoms overlap, I have dry mouth/eyes, muscle stiffness, swollen glands in my neck, no rash though, fatigue but have learnt to rest & have early nights, seems to help a lot....Ive scared myself due to the swollen glands on my neck, I have a constant 'cramp like' feeling in my neck that sometimes when I 'catch it; is excruciating!.....I hate waiting & apparently I have a 4 week wait to get results/see consultant.......

karen would not worry to much about the swollen glands in neck , I get it a lot & dont think its that much to worry about , I get problems with my muscles in my arms , feels like repetitive strain injury + swelling sometimes with fluid moving up my arms which can be paainful , my consultant just said its maybe some kind of ctd & did nothing about it & just let me get on with it
