Subject: Rheumatolagist
I am seeing a specialist soon and cant wait. Feel like GP has had enough of me. I have been told I have synovial thickening in multiple joints in my feet and lower limbs, flat footed. Also my Hands fingers wrists and elbows crack and swell and very painful all the time. My back Knees and hips are painful and I get jabbing pains in my eyes. Feel like I have nobody to really talk to. My wife is doing most things now and I have a 10 month old baby that I have to be careful as not to hurt her or myself when holding her etc. Can anybody tell me what happens when you see the Rheumatolagist.

Hi Steve, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and was diagnosed about 3 years ago. From what I can remember my rheumy asked me loads of questions about my joint pain, examined my joints and my movement ranges, I also had another blood test and x rays. He confirmed the RA diagnosis (my GP had previously done a blood test). I was then prescribed my first RA meds. It may be helpful to keep a diary for a few weeks on your pain levels/how it affects you etc before you have your appointment. Good luck!
