Subject: Stress causing fibro flare

Hi hope everyone well just need to vent I had couple of stressful days at work which I didn't realise at the time has triggered fibro flare. When I saw my consultant a few weeks ago I had a muscle spasm in my back couple of months ago and got given muscle relaxants I asked if they can be taken long term he said no as it will weaken muscles he said only take them if really really need them I don't know whether that means if my fibro is playing

Hi Laura - work stress is one of my triggers and can cause me to flare for weeks. I have also got it from over exercising.

I have read that cortisol stress hormone can trigger inflammation due to mucosal barrier depletion - causing intestinal permeability. There are lots of medical papers online about stress and inflammation.

I take a magnesium (citrate) supplement regularly that I knew helped with stress and flares but I have just read that it prevents mucosal depletion from cortisol.

Hope yours eases soon :)

If they ease your suffering, take them Laura. Pain can only make your condition worse, in my opinion.
