Subject: Help please

Just really needed some help and support, beginning to feel a bit desperate. In so much pain and I feel like I've just been left to get on with it. Knees, shoulders, ankles and wrists on both sides are flaring. Feel exhausted, using stick in mornings to get going. Been taking pain killers, walking all the stuff your meant too and I just feel like getting back under the duvet!! This week has been hard working long days everyday and I feel like I don't know how I'm going to get through today, been up since 5am to try and get moving to get ready to go. I'm 37 and I really cannot see how I can go on working full time on my feet all day much longer. Worried how to tell my boss, just feeling very low and tearful. Please can someone on this great forum advise me, give me a shove in the right direction. Thanks

hi Kat

what drugs they got you on & have they done blood test for inflammation markers & do you know the results

what you got sounds so much like RA & would go back to your GP & ask to be refered to someone else , you are the right age for RA & dont think you can get all those joints on the go with OA , morning stiffness & heat/redness in joints implies RA as well

Hi Kat, you sound exactly like I was at beginning of year, I couldnt even get out of bed or go to loo. It is horrible feeling that way. You really need to go to see a rheumatology specialist, has your g.p. not suggested it? Once you get on the right medication life gets easier but you need to see the right people. If you havent been referred tell your g.p. you want to go as soon as possible, the quicker they start you on medication the better the results are. I really feel for you but just remember things will get better, thats what people used to tell me when I first came on the forum, I didnt believe them because I was so poorly but it was true. Keep us informed of how you are getting on. In the meantime all I can suggest (I am sure someone will come along and will be able to give you more advise) is rest and taking stronger painkillers that maybe you normally take. Chemist will advise aswell. Take care.

Thank you both so much. Not on any med's apart from co-codamol & diclofenac. Had bloods (lots) and one was slightly raised. Went to see rheumy who was horrible, made me feel like time waster. Went back to GP and he still thought that it was rheum, so went and had ultrasound. That didn't show inflammation on my fingers or ankles and they ran out of time to do knees and wrists. Deep down I do think that it's probably rheum, because my mum had it. My symptoms are very much like hers were. Symmetrical joints affected, burning & hot, shattered all the time, very run down, even my little finger nail is coming off! Just wish someone would listen and say yep this is what we think you have, I've been like this since Feb and everyday I'm a bit worse. Looking forward to Sunday a day off!!! Yippeeeee!!
Thanks again

Oh Kat you sound so fed up. Could you maybe go see a rheumy private, I know it would cost over £100 but I did and it was worth every penny, things really got moving fast because he did initial assessment and then from there I went to his NHS clinic. Maybe if you could it would speed things up. It sounds as if your healthcare people are not working for you and that is not right.
