I have had Rheumatoid arthritis for 7 years but have recently started to have neck pains for the last 4-5 days would arthritis have something to do with this?

Hi Paula, I am getting a lot of neck pain too, I don't know if it is coming from my shoulder or spine but I think arthritis does have a lot to do with it.

Paula Hi, I also suffer it and once had physio, but I started to sleep in bed with a neck 'travel' pillow and it honestly helps enormously. I use one every night and have done for over a year. I told the physio and took it in to show her and she said it was a good idea and would recomend it to other patients. The ones I have I bought from M&S about £8 now. They are filled with beans I think. I have 3 and wash them in the washer. Just a thought you may want to try. I could never get comfy on ordinary pillows, always trying to screw them up into the neck, but these work great for me. I don't like my head to high now I have neck pain. Good luck with it.

There are some neck pads that you can also microwave for a minute to give a great deep heat treatment. Again I think these had beans in - but don't eat them? I've had really bad neck and back soreness pains and stiffness at times and a warm epsom salts bath is realy helpful too. Gentle stretching and resistence can also ease inflammation - like lying on your front and gently raising opposite leg and arms to strengthen the muscles to support the joints.
