Hi there, Even though you posted quite a while ago, I thought I'd reply seeings as no one else has! I'm 26 and was diagnosed with RA 4 years ago. I started on sulfasalazine. My dose started very low (1 tablet twice daily) for (I think) 2 weeks, before becoming 3 tablets daily (1 in the morning, 2 in the evening (to avoid nausea)). 2 weeks later I increased to 2 tablets twice daily. As my blood tests continued to show inflammation, the dose increased (just as slowly) to 3 tablets twice daily, which I still take. I was warned when I first started that I might feel sick whilst my body adjusts, and I did at first, but it didn't last very long - I guess my body adjusted! Are you still feeling sick on yours? Are you taking/have you tried any other medications? Wishing you well :)

Over the past 2 1/2 years I have tried quite a range of meds. Just think one is working and the side effects kick in. Unfortunately Sulfasalazine was one of them. Do ask for something else if the side effects don't go. I was on them for over a year before I came off. They might not suit you but there will be something that does.

The first medication I was given for RA was sulfasalazine, I have been on 2 tablets twice a day for over 2 years, I did feel a little sick but was ok after a couple of weeks. They have not worked for me and I'm on a lot of other medication. But my nurse says it works for a lot of people. Hope it works for you xx
