Hi Claire, firstly you need to go back to your GP and ask if he could prescribe something better for your pain. Have you tried a hot water bottle? I find them helpful and so do many others on the forum.
Claire I hope you get some relief soon take care and hang in there until you have a proper diagnoses and the meds you need X

Hi Claire,
I know how you are feeling. I'm 37 and like you am finding it really hard coping with the pain. My GP prescribed me naproxen 500mg one twice a day and co-codamol 30mg, they help a little by taking the edge off BUT never ease it completely. It's really hard, I do try to make myself feel positive even though I'm feeling crap. There is light at the end of the tunnel and I know it's horrible but as I've been advised on this wonderful forum "HANG ON IN THERE!!". I'm still waiting for a definite diagnosis, I've been going back and forth to the GP since end of Feb. Go back, book a double appointment so that you're not rushed and beforehand write down everything you want to say/ask. And above all take care.

Hi Claire, You really need to get the right meds if it is RA that you have. I would call the hospital and try and get them to speed the appointment up or get the GP to do it as sometimes they listen more to them. Sometimes putting supports on the wrists can help a bit. I know how sore it is but once you get the right meds you will feel a lot better. x

Hi Claire
Its all part of it, feeling tired, down etc. We all know how you feel. The constant pain and simple things you used to do are now difficult. So fustrating. And at a young age too. I have to do my house work in stages, get hubby to do bits for me, if it does'nt get done it does'nt get done. Your health is more important. Hope all our input has helped. Take care, hope you get sorted soon.

Hi Claire,

I too feel your pain...I was diagnoised about 25 years ago in my very early 20's. The meds worked for me for many many years but then in my late 30's they decided to stop working....anyway my advise is
1. Use Solpadeine soluble, they are fantastic, but are for short term use. They can be bought over the counter( well here in Ireland anyway)

2. If you are on Naprosyn I would definitely get my Rummy to prescribe a stomach tablet also such as protium or the like, itbprotects the stomach.

3. I suffer with my hands also and I find that steeping my hands in hot water and Epson salts is great. Epson salts is great for your feet also. When I have aches all over I find that taking a hot shower or soak in the bath does wonders. When you are feeling down and somewhat depressed with the disease it is important to pamper yourself.... and don't forget that there are thousands of people in the same boat as you and until you get to see your rummy Solpadine can help for the short term as it is only a pain killer.

3. Another thing that helped me was meditation, be greedy, take some time for yourself and pamper yourself....

Hope this helps a little
