Subject: blood in white of eye

Hi, I have noticed for the last few weeks that I have a lot of blood in the inside of my eyelids, it started with the one eye but it was painless but I have now noticed the other eye has a lot of blood in in too and is now becoming noticeable without pulling my lids down. My eyes are now nipping and one of them can be a bit painful. Does anyone know if this could be rheumatoid arthritis or the medication that would be causing this. I thought I was maybe spending too long on the internet but now wonder if it is the ra.

hi Rhona , get it checked out with your GP , with RA we get dry eyes because of inflammation blocking the tear ducks . have your eyes got redness of your eyes , with scleritis which I got the swelling of my eye lids put pressure on my eyes & cause redness of the white of my eyes

Thanks Colin, I will check that out. They look as though they are bloodshot and when I pull the bottom lid down they look full of blood and they are normally very pale.

I hope you are doing well on your new biologic.

Take care x

been given a few more months to try Golimumab , dont know why I am not doing well on it , not much side effects but last CRP was 27 , they have increased to dose so that may help & will be trying it , you hear so many good things about this drug & how well it works but dont know why its not kicked in

for some reason always thought I would end up on the drug you are on but we have to try 2 anti-tnf first , my missus is worried about the side effects from this drug let along the b-cell ones so wont tell her

Hi Colin, I know the rituximab can take around 4 months to work, I hope the golimumab still has a chance of working for you. I was on Enbrel for 13 weeks and if anything I was worse than ever on it so it can be a lot of trial and error finding the right drug. The side effects are a worry but what can we do. Hope you get some improvement soon. x
