Does anyone else find that some of their aches and pains are worse in the warmer weather? I have reactive arthritis and although some of the worse joints are ok in the heat, the back of my hands, near to the knuckles where the swelling is nearly all time is so much worse and constantly aching!!

I haven't noticed the weather makes any difference to my arthritis. I have either bad days or very bad days!

It's just 12 months on from posting this thread and the heat is definitely affecting me. I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis almost 2 years ago, but this has been changed to rheumatoid recently. Throughout the winter I didn't seem to be too bad, although had to invest in some good shoes as I was feeling it in my feet. I'm also having neighbour issues, resulting in stress and lack of sleep! Grrrr! Is anyone else out there struggling with the heat?

Yes, I struggle in the heat, Jot. I am spending the bulk of the day in the coolest part of the house and doing anything I have to do in the morning and late at night. I find my legs ache quite a lot and I know that is heat.

Hi Ladies, the humidity plays havoc with me OA but so does the rain. What I need is a warm day with a gentle breeze. The only place I get that is in the Canary Islands but unfortunately doesn't come on the NHS. Bsk I was complaining today about aches in my calves I didn't connect it to the weather, well that has made me feel better about it. I now have a fan on full blast trying to cool the sitting room down. I hope you both sleep easy tonight.

I know what you mean, Jot. Everyone assumes you are better in the warm weather.

Im not a hot weather person. I bought one of those plant mister/spray things. Add quarter of a teaspoon of menthol crystals (get them from any chemist) fill with water and leave to cool in the fridge. Spritz over arms, legs, feet and the menthol has a lingering cooling effect and is a lot cheaper than similar body cooling sprays you can buy in a can.
