Hi Lynne, I am sorry that you have RA. Before i was diagnosed i remember being up during the night in tears as i felt as though my shoulder was broken, so i would say RA can be agony. Fortunately when you start the right meds things will get easier and the pain not nearly as bad. It can take a wee while for the meds to kick in though. I hope you feel better soon. xx

hi lynne , sounds like youre RA not under control , myself been taking sulfasalzine since 1996 & Methotrexate since 1998 , Mtx is so much better at controling RA if you can get on with it . pain is such a personal thing but your RA & pain will get so much better when its under better control so talk to your RA team & let them know , the drugs do take some time to kick in

Hi Sue, If i remember correctly i think it was about 3-4 weeks that i started feeling a slight improvement and then when i was on 4 sulphasalazine for a few weeks i felt a lot better. You could ask for another jab, i know they don't like giving too many but when you are first diagnosed you sometimes need a bit extra until the DMARDS start working. It can be a strange disease as i could feel really bad one day and then sometimes the pain would be gone as quickly as it came the next day or moved to another joint. Things are so much better now than they were years ago so you will feel a lot better soon. Take care x
