Subject: Needed Consultant recommendation in East Anglia

Hi, I am new to the arthritis forum. After 4 years of being relatively RA free due to being on Methotrexate. I have now had two bad flare up within a couple of weeks. The consultant I had been seeing has left the country and last week saw my new one, who was a drip and I have no confidence in him at all. He's taken me off the methotrex and given no replacement. Can anyone recommend a dynamic consultant will to try new treatments etc, in the Peterboro / Cambridge area. Thank you.

hi Jo , cant help you but talk to your GP , they must know the consultants around your area & they are the ones who can transfer you to them

taking you of methotrexate seems mad & very good reason to talk to your GP to conplain

Hi Jo, I live in Cambridge & would recommend my Rheumatologist; Dr Shenker, who I see at Addenbrookes. I'm not sure how willing he his to try new treatments, but I can certainly recommend him for his general bedside manner and understanding. Good luck.

Thanks very much. I've got an appointment to see my gp on 15/5 which seems a lifetime away at the mo and trying to get it moved forward. Phone call to practice tomorrow. But when I do get to see him I will ask if I can be referred to him. Thanks again.
I'll keep you posted. :0)

Saw Dr Shenker yesterday. What a lovely man. Thanks again for recommending him. Course of action planned, shame it takes so long for the drugs to work but feel positive that there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
