Subject: Has anyone managed to reach their local CAB?

Having recently been refused DLA, I have had so much advice to approach CAB. However, Im having real problems getting through on the phone lines to speak to an actual person. I know some people would say 'Just turn up at the office' but unfortunately my medical and disability problems don't allow me to do that. I have to have a booked appointment to attend, waiting around for long periods of time would cause me pain and discomfort and I know I would eventually walk out. Please any other advice on how to seek help on my appeal against the refusal of DLA?

They should have an e-mail address. If not turn up and say can I make and appoinment briefly explian why. I know this may seem all a bit much but it will be worth it in the end. Good luck.

If you can't get through to your local branch you could try phoning another branch and they should be able to tell you the opening hours of your local one, or as Colin & Marlene have suggested you could email.

They are open 5 days a week for 3 hours a day. There is no email address only a fax number. I tried phoning every few minutes til they closed, no joy. They have quite a few advice locations around the city, community centres or medical practices and each one only serves a local resident or patient. Typical, my new medical practice as large has it is doesn't offer the service. I will keep trying. My son is on holiday in a couple of week so the offer of transport will be taken up.

You could always write to them Kim and ask them to phone you. Good luck.

You may have already sorted this but if CAB no good try your local council welfare officer many are now helping with these forms and appeals as so many people are having problems worth a phone call.

Thank you Kazz. The saying it never rains but it pours, I feel applies to me at the moment. Now I have the Incapacity on my case, reviewing to see if they can get disabled back into work. I nearly snapped on the phone, and said fine I will go through the review, but there is no way I can attend in person so no doubt Ive lost it already. The benefit chap replied 'oh no, thats ok, get a letter from your G.P stating the reason why and we can send an officer to your home'. Brilliant, now all I have to do is make that request to the G.P, easier said then done me thinks but I will give it a go.
