Hi Colin,
Pleased that you will soon be starting Golumamab,I started this bio- logic six month's ago found it very good and no side effect's but they took me off my anti inflamatory in dec because of high blood pressure and then had a bad back so had to put me on one again that does not affect the high blood pressure. Then last week they reduced my mtx from 25 mg to 15 mg because I was on this drug I suppose it was to try and reduce the amount of these drug's you have to take.

But a week past yesterday took a bad flare up in the back so contacted the rhumy nurse and she thought I might have cracked my spine as she said pa does not affect the back so went to casualty and the doc there think's that the pa has affected a virtabrae or disc in the spine which has tiled inward's and is pressing on the nerve's so he is going to contact my rheumatologist to get my medication reviewed So have a load of painkiller's at the minute and just have to wait and see.

The reason I am telling you this is if I had have gotton started on the bio- logic's last year or before that I think I would not have this problem.

You will find your joint's a lot better not cured but better so good luck with the treatment. And let us know how you get on
Deborah x

so finger's crossed when they get the rest of my drug's reviewed it will keep being better.

Mean't to say that you are the only other person I know who will be starting Golumumab as my son is on Humria so let me know how you find it.

Hi Colin,
Sorry I missed your post,
Yes the pen is the same as enbrel or a least I think it is,it's the one were you depress and then fire and wait for 2 click's and then look in the window to make sure it has dispensed all the drug.
I get my husband to do it as I think it is ok in the arm's but can't stand injection's in my thigh's as I find the skin so painful.
Have had no problem's with the injection site so far so that is good.
I hope you really get on well with this drug Colin good luck Deborah.

Hi Colin,
The Medco nurse's are lovely in fact they are like someone you have known previously.
I have been on Golumamab for 7 month's and I have not had a problem with the injection site.
Just wanted to ask how did you find the steroid's they are talking about trying me on them as well and they are increasing my mtx too.

had my first injection today of Golumamab , went ok as the pens are easy & just hoping no problems with it & dont take to long to work , the Medco nurse was good & coming down again next month , on three month trial

Deborah , never realy do that well on steriods & problem with RA is you can get massive flare coming off them , what level Mtx you on , was put up to 25mg from 20mg & did not feel any benifit from the increase

Hi Colin,
How have you felt since you got your jab? I had no sickness and felt the benefit on the first week and for a few week's after.
In fact I felt like I had been given a new body woo hoo and I know you have had your arthritis for a long time like me so hope it is the same for you.
I was on 25mg of mtx and because I was doing well on Golumamab they reduced me down to 15mg and they had to reduce my Arcoxia from 90 mg to 60 mg due to high blood pressure.
At the time I wanted them to keep up to 20 mg of mtx but they know better so now because of my back and a few bad week's they are putting me back up to 25 mg and they want me to try steroid's as well that's why I wanted to find out how you were on them. Now if that does not help they said they would try me on a different bio- logic.
I have a funny feeling putting the mtx up won't make any difference but if it does help they will not be changing my drug's anymore unless it is not helping.
And yes have heard that you can get bad flare up's coming off steroid's and they might not even make much difference so what to do only try everything.
So keep us up to date on how you are and best of luck. Deborah.
