Subject: Reactive arthritis query

I started struggling with my joints after a rabbit bite in August. After a hospital app and steroid injection in Oct it eased quite a bit, but since suffering from a bout of sickness and not take tablets the pain has been increasing. to make matters worse this week I've fractured a toe, could the sickness and the fracture inpact on the pain I feel? Hope someone can help! Thanks

Hi Jot,

Have you been diagnosed with arthiritis and if so what kind? If you haven't been taking your tablets then the pain will increase. I am sure if you have fractured a toe and not been too well then the pain would increase. Perhaps you should go back to your doctor and ask him to do some blood tests if you haven't already had them done as different types of arthritis need different drugs.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry Jot, i just noticed that you said it is reactive arthritis, i don't really know much about that one but hope you feel better soon. What tablets are you on, is it the tablets that are making you sick?

Thanks for your reply. Had blood tests and X-rays in Dec but not due back until March. Been taking Naproxen, which I've been taking regularly again since being sick but feel that since fracturing my toe my joints are back to being as painful as they were at the beginning.

I would go back to the doctor Jot and tell him how you are feeling. Are you taking a stomach protecter with the naproxen? as they can upset the stomach. I know with rheumatoid arthritis that naproxen wouldn't do much for the pain as you do need the right drugs.

If you type reactive arthritis into the search box at the top of the page you may get some more information.
