Subject: jaw pain
Hi all
I have awful pain in my jaw joint for the past few day
It very sore and stiff I can't eat properly living on home made soup and lightly scrambled eggs I can't bite down or open my mouth to wash my teeth
I feel so miserably I am taking a lot of pain meds and steroids at the moment to try and keep going
Just wondering if any of u suffer with this
I have ra
Any help would be greatly appreciated

hi Tara , it should not last very long , get cluncking with it as well but does settle within few days hope you feel better soon

Thanks hun
Its bad enough when u can't drive properly walk with a lip or hold a pen but this is the fist time my jaw was affected and when I couldn't eat properly I just thought what next with this blasted disease the meds affect my tummy and make me feel sick at time so doc told me be sure to eat before taking tabs

Hi Tara I don't have ra but pa and I hAd terrible troubles with pain in my tmj joint I saw a maxxolfacial consultant who xrayed it lucily he said the cartilage looked ok but there isn't an awful lot you can do with it he made me a plastic gum shield thing for me to wear in bed which. Take the pressure off the joint, at the moment mines is not too bad but it comes and goes. Hope you feel better soon

My jaw is much better its my fingers and shoulders today but I suppose that's the nature of the beast
I was so miserable early in the week I couldn't eat properly my month didn't feel like my own
That was the first time my jaw was affected
I will ask about the month sheald the next time I see the doc

hi tara i also have RA and also have pain in my jaw its only started in the last 6 months tho iv never had it here before. i have been diagnosed about 4 years now so can only think its getting worse. the only place i dont have pain now is in my neck lol only the kids anyway xxx

Lol same as you I have 6 kids
I was diagnosed last may and apart from about 6 great weeks during the summer I have been fairly miserable I'm on 25 mg of mtx folic acid neproxen (spelling?) and paracetamol but looking forward and staying positive the jaw pain was the worsted yet I can deal with any thing but not been able to eat and the pain was a nightmare
