HiJanet do you mean osteo arthritis? I agree this is a very painful condition I am a sufferer. It can present its self exactly like Jan has described but if I was Jan I would push until I have the diagnosis. This can be a long haul. It is very important to have the correct dianoses as PA and RA are totally different and need to be treated with the correct medication. I wish you well and hope you are sorted soon. Jan take care and hang in there x

Hi Jan and others, I have awful pain in most hand joints too. It really gets you down doesn't it. It's so hard to rest your hands! My bloods came back negative, and there's little to see in my X-rays, which I was surprised about as they are so painful. I work on a computer all day so have bought a special mouse and use a wrist support. I wear wrist supports for driving, as I do a lot of that for work too. I've just started using volt oral gel four times a day, suggested by rhuemy, and I'm getting capsicum gel for in between times. Anyone tried that? Also the rhuemy is prescribing a NSAID that's better for guts than most, so I will see how that goes. It is depressing, but I think I will come to terms with it, adapt, use various aids. And I must go swimming! Hope you find relief soon.
